No, you have cast Skrillex in a way that doesn't portray him as the absolute worst producer music has ever seen. For this horrible transgression you must pay.
Just repeat after me: Skrillex is shit, brostep is shit, and anyone trying to make this kind of music is a copycat producer who has no creativity and no artistic direction. This applies to every producer who makes "brostep," including Au5 who you mentioned, who (let me see if I get this right) is a cheap ripoff of Koan Sound, who themselves are as unoriginal and abhorrent as Skrillex himself.
But if you ask about how to sound like Mala, then suddenly no one will call you out for wanting to sound like someone else... moral of the story: it's okay to copy as long as you copy someone that everybody else on this forum likes.
Well at least someone read the fucking forum rules.

Talk about logical fallacies... 'Skrillex is popular so he must know better than everyone else. Unless you have Skrillex's fame and fortune your opinion means nothing and you should look up to him'
Didn't we already go through this with the appeal to authority thread?
Why are you.being so argumentative?
Every time i posted you kept trying to impose this idea that i was telling him to pirate the vengeance packs.
I also did NOT say "skrillex is popular therefore he knows better than anyone." That is, once again, you being guilty of straw man fallacy. I literally. Never. Said that. Nor did i imply it. I said skrillex is successful and nice, therefore it is not shameful of Renewed to look up to him. You see how different those claims are. Do not put words into my mouth and then try to debate them.
This community should be about love and respect. Renewed asked an innocent question. Everybody judged him and slandered his intentions. Nobody needs that shit. I think you guys need to get laid or take a break from the forum or something. He didn't ask for anyone to judge him or angrily assert their opinion on why he is WRONG to want to head in a particular direction.
Treat each other with respect. Plur baby. I will not entertain any further strawmans. If you wanna debate you can pm me.

Honestly, the first time I posted I was just trying to help the dude save money because I really don't think he needs to spend money to get where he wants to go.

Well if I had money to spend and I already had 40 sample packs, I sure as hell wouldn't use the money on
more sample packs, lol

Yea...I that's basically what I was getting at...if you can't find what you are looking for in 40 sample packs...you have ridiculous expectations of what a sample pack is supposed to be...

Guys, I got the 40 packs over 2 days. I haven't gone through each and every last single sound yet, which is what I will do soon in order to cut out the best. I'm just asking....
I have to say, Vengeance has BY FAR the best snares.

Perfect example in this thread IMO.
There is no magic sample pack that will give you all the exact sounds you want straight off the shelf. You need to take what you have (sounds like you have enough already tbh) and make the samples work for you.

Renewed wrote:I would like to know what everybody considers the absolute best sample pack(s), e.g. packs that cost money etc....Samples that if used, will mimic the best of the best in current dubstep. Just throw me some pack names, I'll have a look at them, thank you!!!
EDIT: I mean like stuff like Vengeance or others. I just have a REALLLLY hard time finding good sounding kicks, typical fat dub snares, and the rest :/ The price really don't matter, just that I have the same stuff le pros use.
After rereading the OP, I'm surprised they didn't jump on you earlier Renewed. I mean asking how to "mimic current dubstep" by getting the "same stuff the pros use?" You're just asking to get shot down by phrasing it like that.
I mean what do expect, this is a forum of serious producers and you're asking "what samples will make me sound like Skrillex?" The answer, despite what some people on this forum might say, is that Skrillex's music reflects an incredibly high level of production skill, and the samples he uses reflect highly precise layering and processing to get them sounding as heavy as they do.
Even if you owned the exact sample or samples that Skrillex might have used in one of his tracks, you wouldn't be able to make them sound as good as he does without a mastery of compression and eq, resampling, distortion, multiband processing, etc. If you think that Skrillex just takes a vengeance sample and sticks it into his track (and I'm not saying you do think this), then you are sorely mistaken.
Despite all of what I just said, the guy is obviously new so maybe not be so hard on him?

Layering snares will get those snares that most artists have, I usually layer them to get an acoustic feel or metallic feel. Glitch hop is the genre were I mostly layer my snares to get a "live feel". When it comes to Drum & Bass I will combine different snares from my DAW's sample section combined with free samples and paid samples. Snares in vengeance don't really make me go "OMG THIS MUST BE USED", one guy here said that it takes poking around in the pack to find some good stuff. The hats, rides and cymbals are compressed to death and the transients suck. There are no "pro" packs, there are only packs that are good or bad most of which are 50/50.
I also agree with Add9, lets give this guy a break, he's new here. He must of thought that we were all heavy bro listeners, I was the same but after reading some post by people, I knew this was a serious forum and silly questions will get me nowhere.

I wasn't being argumentative and I never said you told him to pirate shit. Lordy calm down. Nobody was even talking to you until you started calling everyone pompous.
Pretty much every response in this thread has been telling OP to stop downloading sample packs, take the samples he already has, sort through them, and build his hits. If he's downloaded 40 packs so far and still hasn't found anything useful, obviously his sound design skills are the weak link here, not the number of samples at his disposal. You said we're all being elitist and pompous and told him to ignore all the responses in the thread. Then Skrillex was brought up incidentally and you said anyone slating him is an elitist no-name. So basically you're advising him to continue on his journey to find the magic sample that'll make him sound like Skrillex, instead of doing like everyone else suggested and figuring out sound design and mixing? I mean we're just no-names compared to ole Skrilly so what do we know right?
OP is obviously just a noob who needs to stop making threads and log some hours in his DAW instead. Once he's done that people here will be a bit more receptive to his questions.
Wub's post sums it up accurately.
