wrong, thats exactly why i don't like it
we plan to offer a less colorful layout soon.
Needs more post-apocalyptic wasteland vibes..
On a serious though I quite like the layout, would be interested to see what newness would become available though. And this discourse looks pretty interesting am checking it out now

Nice to see you having a convo with us plebs dubway
Is it a sign that you're worried about our continued existence?
I'm happy shootin' the breeze with those of us who do, did or are considering digging ds.
My other outlet, dsau, went down the gurgler
so this is it man.
You started this
and, like Skream, I'll respect your decision about continuing or not
but I'd prefer not to be left hanging
or trying to find similar dickheads, louts, know-alls and sleaze-balls on techno/electronica forums
cos I seem to like dubstep-oriented dickheads, louts, know-alls and sleazeballs.
(& for some, that there is a compliment)
O & practically:
Get rid of bigups & all the other accessories.
Leave pms for boring interpersonal shit.
Delete all the threads I started (I've got prints of them...they're going in the Dubstepforum Compendium)
Disallow editing of or adding to old threads because this puts them out of their era...just allow references to them after, say, 3 months.
Reinvigorate smilies (I've now used all the current ones)
Put up a thread for a month on using all the obscure stuff.
Bring back that interview-a ds-head thing
Have a tune playing when I get onto the site.
etc etc...full of 'em.
Thanks again mate.

I want to continue DSF
and I think the change is needed...
but if you are going to moan on every change we make
it will be impossible to continue...
that's why I want to hear your thoughts on changes

I don't like the discourse route
"Conversations aren’t broken up into multiple pages: Topics are on a single page, with continuous scrolling."
nope don't want
"You’ll get notifications when you are mentioned, or when somebody replies to you. You can even @mention somebody in a post to pull them into the conversation.""
really don't care, seems very annoying and will be abused lol
"Reply while you read: The new Reply and New Topic composers are docked to the screen, so you can even browse around the forum while writing your reply."
only interesting thing imho, I always tend to answer first and read the other comments afterwards so I edit stuff a lot
those 2 last features seem great too

Over the last few days I've been off DSF, aside from checking if anybody had any Night Tracks questions. Honestly, SNH is just not a fun place to waste time at work anymore. Every conversation just degrades into fiercely partisan bickering, showing off or just needlessly being a twat to impress other twats. Over the years I've been on DSF, I've had my mind changed on so many subjects, whether musical, political, social, whatever, especially by the likes of Magma and Noways, etc. people who made me think about things a little more.
Happy to contribute to any "new" dsf through reviews or interviews, etc. never been one to pass up the opportunity to chat too much shit about music

Big up lye form, glad to know people actually liked reading them and I'm glad Pete asked me to be involved.

we will not force you to Discourse, but we would like to let you try it...
many people have asked why is there house but not other music subforum,
so we thought we could make new subforum for other music, and build it on Discourse engine ...
then you could go to this experimental lab section to try using new engine,
and if you don't like it you can continue to use forum as it is without any distractions

The admins and mods already know my opinions, I'm pro discourse, stricter moderating, less segregation, more content creation.
Of late I have deliberately avoided the SNH because it's as Gareth says, the same names, ripping into anything that doesn't meet their approval or just posting offensive stuff to get a rise. The Fedora / Cringe thread is one of the most depressing things to read on the forum, not because of the linked content and pics (which is actually kinda jokes), but because of the consistent vitriol endlessly spewed. It seeps throughout the forum. It's the most active sub forum on the site and a genuinely shit impression of what is actually a fucking stand up community of people on here.
I'd like the main forum to become an overall music forum and the SNH is just not music related.
nowaysj wrote:Yes flattening and centralizing will help concentrate and foster user interactions, but too much flattening, and it will dilute meaningful interactions and further alienate your remaining user base.
Yeah it's a fine line to walk, but the current forum architecture is so 2000s and with forums in general fading because of the big social network sites I think something could be done to bring it into this century. The thing I like about Discourse is the tagging system, if the SNH members want to shit talk and be mean, then we can have specific tag for that and no one else has to even know it exists unless they hunt it out. Whereas those regulars can have a one click link to all the malicious shit they could ever want. Which seems like the best of both worlds to me.
The forum could do with an influx of new names and opinions as well and I'm not certain the dubstepforum title is going to attract, but then I'm very wary of disassociating the site with everything that made it in the first place. DSF or something a bit less esoteric?

they have vBulletin® forum software. it is similar to phpbb (one which we use). which is different from Discourse.

I think there's probably a correlation between me not being here and people becoming disillusioned with the snh, it's ok guys i'm back now.

this please. would def be more likely to use the site more regularly if this existed. Not that I really matter, but I'm just saying. I spend 90% of my time on a hip hop forum now, cuz that's what interests me the most currently, but I'd love to be able to more easily discuss these types of things with my old ninja bros
most of you have shit taste in rap tho.

kidding, but seriously, a hip hop board would be cool.

Also we should use something that sends notifications to you when you're quoted, like on KTT. Makes it easier for people top stay involved in a conversation since they dont have to go searching to see if anyone has replied to them.

More discussion into various types of music would be really nice in promoting people to stay on the forum. Techno thread is probably one of my favorite things on the forum tbh.

There's already a hip hop thread, which (if the demand for a board is so great) should be vibrant as fuck already?

Agree with this for the most part, but I guess the biggest thing for me is theres just not enough traffic. I really dgaf about partisan bickering and all that as its entertaining, theres just not enough activity to keep me engaged. Theres like a total of like 10 threads where 90% of the discussion happens, and things just dont move fast enough sometimes to motivate me to keep coming and checking in, which is why I kinda moved on to more active places.

Thread is 200 pages long and it wears my soul down having to read it.
