holy crap never knew abt this mr. malibu ting, whats it like??garethom wrote:Got that Round Sound release with Malibu on it just for the novelty value.dj $hy wrote:For me the first true "Dubstep" was around the DMZ001 release.. I personally saw El-B stuff as Garage and agree with Black, you cant really define the tune to start it as back then it was just all dark UKG until I saw hoursepower n DMZ... It used to take a lot of sorting through shitty dark UKG records before Hatcha would give you any of the under the counter badness!
Before DMZ01 is there any other DMZ tunes around? They cant have just build them 3 n that was the start, always wondered this as I'm sure liek with any produces they have to start way before they get signed! My mates used to do raves back in the day and have a tape of Mala and Coki MC'ing.... Yup, they MC'd! Funny the path life takes you on!Never seen Coki MCing though.

Well BAM004 with Pathways, Ugly, Mawo Dub and Da Wrath on it was released before DMZ became a label. The compilation Grime 2 might have been too which has 6 tracks from Loe/Mystikz.dj $hy wrote:Before DMZ01 is there any other DMZ tunes around? You know what I totally forgot about Grime 2! That had plenty of Dubstep on there but again it wasnt called Dubstep, Grime... Crazy eh?! I remember going to the launch night for Grime 2 - Kode 9 starting off, DJ'ing to Skeeze n me as there was no one there yet! Virus Syndicate n Plasticman (we can call him that as that was his name back then!) killed it hard that night!leyenda303 wrote:Well BAM004 with Pathways, Ugly, Mawo Dub and Da Wrath on it was released before DMZ became a label.
