great night, i must say i quite enjoyed myself..
had never been to a night at fabric before and despite it being so big (i'm normally not a fan of big clubs) i really liked all the sets i heard, and liked hooking up with quite a few ppl i hadnt seen in a while.

same thing with gigs ive been to at canvas. such at catch 22 with a decent line up and a shit venue.

well i had fun. far nicer crowd than i'd been expecting, seemed generally fairly clued up and open minded.

yeah after walking around aimlessly for about 68 minutes i finally bumped into her!

i have to say i thought Fabric was pretty sick to be fair.. first time i've been since i was 17 (fucking hell.. EIGHT YEARS AGO!!)

i was probably still buzzing off kode9's garage set at FWD (and the 362 bottles of budvar that i drank there) but i was very pleasantly surprised by the systems in all three rooms. Loefah was sounding stupidly weighty in room 1, kode9 smacked it for the second time in the night in room 2, and i don't really remember much after that so there we go...

out to Ramadamadubs, UFO, corpsey and anyone else i drunkenly conversed with/ruffled their hair.

has anyone got any photo's? i was too busy runnign aorund like a headless chicken.

Quest in room 3 was off the chain + was good to hear Broken Heart getting rinsed by loads of dj's

Flowdan was sick over K9, trying to get the crowd hyped up but i'm not sure they were that responsive :/

heavy night....the rain and a load of 'soppy bollox fabric pups' couldnt dampen my evening

...after being asked how old i was several times by some pissed south african twat in the cue, and reminicimg on a past fabric experience. From which i still feel disturbed by.

The story is as follows " I was stroked down the face buy a what seemed to be a once attractive 15 year old gurn zombie of female variety, who then stopped with eyes firmly in the back of the head to say "your lovely " ( i dont even think she could see me).
I began to panic as to what the "famous" fabric vibes had in store...

I have to say when i looked further passed the pups, i saw many like minded people on the same level giving it full blown apprechiation skanks ....lighters and all sorts .....to see child hood heros CONGO NATTY, THE MIGHTY UPSETTER , and a like, i felt my girlfriend's 13 pound was well spent was very well spent.

LOFAH truly smashed it.. the smoking area was full of vibes which was a nice surprise as havent been there since long before the smokeing ban.

big up the smoking ban , big up the umbrella gang , and big up subeena , . cycling back to peckham in the morning drizzle didnt even seem to bad.... ....but none the less good fun and big up everyone else that was on that vibe....

i had an awesome time. Out to all the peeps that reached, wicked vibes throughout and wicked sets all round. Very good night imo.

when you go to fabric, you know exactly what you're getting into. sort of like going into a subway because the bun and turkey will always taste the same. this is neither here nor there, as everyone goes to clubs for different tings....

the venue is set up like a train station at rush hour, and you will be pushed about, probably lose your friends while at the toilet or whilst having a smoke. i think they have far too many rooms and shouldn't book so many acts as its going to be impossible to see a full set anywhere in the place because the next man is playing at the same time in another room, etc. room three should be a chill out room. why do you think so many people hang out in the staircases? it's because there's not one room in the venue to chill out in quiet. you have a few thousand people in there for nearly 9 hours straight, and not one place to talk to people without screaming? !? not everyone smokes or wants to spend the time trying to get to the smoking area either.....

from the dj perspective you can't build a set because you only have peoples attention for 15 minutes tops. this is bad because it encourages dj's to play straight anthems/bangers instead of pacing out a full set with a start and finish. not really sure thats the one, because out the window goes the dj experience for the sake of trying to keep people attentive. on the other hand i can see why having fabric on your myspace venue list is worth it because it's a global level venue and it looks good on a one sheet/keeps the agents happy.

^ bang on. I was reminded on sunday that the main reason I don't like Fabric is the way its actually designed.

I do quite agree but I thought they did well at dublime from this point of view - structurally they generally had different DJs providing different vibes in different rooms, so as long as you actually knew what was going on, had seen the set order etc you could make sure you were in the right place at the right time.. for example kode 9 and caspa/rusko playing at the same time in room 1 or 2, antisocial and blackdown getting peak time room 3 slots during techno and dub sets in rooms 1 and 2.. you couldn't see everything but as long as you knew what you were going for you'd be ok.
