I personally love vinyl and turntables, but the cost of vinyl and the fact that some tunes just aren't coming out on wax has pushed me towards getting serato.

Can't see myself ever stopping buying vinyl, but the days of spending €25 quid for an album that you only want one song off are coming to an end for me.

I don't see the price as a barrier to be honest. Makes you buy better records haha

I'm a bit confused looking at the prices on the Dubstudio site. Looking at the 10" acetate for example it says that it is 29 pound for a two sided plate, and states that 'mastering is included on all dubs'. However they also offer a dub+master package which costs 59 pounds for a 10", what's the difference?

For £29 you get a 10" vinyl or acetate dubplate. The tracks that get cut have to go through a mastering process so that the tracks sound the best they can when cut on to the disc.

The £59 gets you the same as above, as well as mastered wav's of the tracks your cutting

I'm sure it says all that on the site. If your unsure contact them, they are very friendly and helpful there.

Oh I see! So if you pay more you also get the mastered WAVs back to keep as well as a dubplate. Sorted :W:

you pretty much pay for 2 digital masters and get a 10" dub for free,
that sir, is a bargain

Surely you only get the digital masters to keep though if you pay the higher price. So you're not really getting the dubplate for free?

Can you all please stop posting in here now, all you're doing is increasing the likelihood I blow some serious money on getting some stuff cut.

Thanks,
Gareth :Q:

Few questions about this. What format do they accept the track in (is 320 mp3 enough?) and is do they have any issues with getting tunes cut that got a digital release but nothing physical? There's quite a few tracks I'd like to spin that never got a vinyl release.

Just ask your cutting house. I imagine the answer would be yes pretty much all of the time. You can always do conversion to their preferred formats yourself if need be.

Thought I'd probably get a quicker response here. I asked about the bitrate/filetype because these are tracks that I couldn't get the wav for (it wasn't available, oh, and the tracks aren't my own), just wondering if 320 would be enough or wav only?

wav only I believe, 320s are aliased.

320s shouldn't be a problem, though I would send a wav (or aiff) when available.
