yes, dubstepforum is soley for bigging people up. lol everyone knows this isn't true. You can express your opinions, whatever they are. doesn't mean other people won't disagree with you.

I mean, i realise that saying this about such a scene-revered man as Kode9 is the closest thing to blasphemy but try as i may i dont get anything from his music,. i've heard it done better by other people.
Then i read this article and it starts to form an impression of him,.. simply as someone i dont 'get' .. could be i'm too stupid. Either way, maybe i should think twice about voicing my oppinion else face becoming a dubstepforum pariah. Neither of which i'd be particularly happy about as i''m otherwise blown away by such a great community surrounding a scene that i absolutely love.
as Fats would say, "peace love and unity"

did you actually read what was said?
informed, intelligent, artistic criticism is positive
but you were chatting about his character! is this the place for that? and really, are you in a position to judge him? you dont know him, all you're basing it on is an interview and a chart!

you're confusing the issues man, to me, voicing opinions about art and character are two very different things. do you not see what i mean?

Yeah, you probably have a point. I'm afraid i have been around too many IDM producers waxing academic-post-modernist-shitstream for too long and now have an automatic kill-switch in my brain which goes "this bloke is an almighty cock". K9 fell foul of this, sure he's a nice bloke.. still dont much care for his riddims though.. people like tricky were doing this (the spaceape stuff) about 10 years ago with more class and creativity imo (ie pre-millenium tension & angels with dirty faces)

lol yeh fair play
its an interesting point you have, i never gave tricky that much attention, obviously i should have. i think k-punk refers to him in this context too.
but the likes of sign of the dub, kingstown and 9 samurai? i can understand you not feeling them, different strokes for different folks and that, but do you not see originality and value in tracks like those?
also (although obv i can't relate this to tricky's stuff here), is there not something distinct between POST-millenial tension and pre? obviously to some degree social / political tension will inevitably have some degree of timelessness, but it seems like kode9's music has a particular place in the post 2001 world, both in terms of the historical development of the 'ardcore continuum' (as ppl have called it), and the politics of our time
i loved the k-punk discussion of sign of the dub as the comatose 'continuum'
but by saying all this, ive adopted the position which you seem to reject (i.e. theorising on music in general)...

All good then. Big up the E3 mandem.
Re tricky - i see the point also and i hear sonic reference points in kode9's stufff. but if anything i think that's built upon rather than simply repeated

this just typifies the impression i'm starting to get of kode 9.. so fuckin full of himself this bloke, have you seen his top 10 record selection ? its 99% Kode 9..
http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4457 what the fuck is that all about.. trust me kid.. ya aint
all that
Jesus lol. I too think its a stream of crap but thats all, people are multifaceted
beings mate and I will stop short of judging him just because of his prediliction for overly verbose paragraphery (haha).fI enjoy his music and think he is one of the pioneering spirits in the scene and has never come across as full of himself infact quite the opposite, I swear the man tries to hide in nearly every photo of him. Anyway by you're reasoning then Skream must have a massive ego, i mean have you heard his show? He plays nearly all his own tunes, pah!

The general message is that if you listen to dubstep through whack computer speakers then you're an immoral globalist out for my personal details.

Haha it allmost seems like its a complete pisstake, allthough I cant believe that much would have gone into it if it was, maybe its just too far over my head;

Amma (AMusement MAtrix). Maya Technologies' artificial yogic intelligence, whose informatic 'siddhis' constitute the virtual components of a cosmic theme park.
Death Garage. Sonic subgenre characterized by (loud) Swarm-beats.
MMbo-Jumbo!. Y2K data-devastation.
Warp. Region of Djynxx.
It always seems like a bit of mistake over contextualising art, either it does something or it doesn't it shouldnt need explanation through words, thats another medium, allthough I really like kode9's tunes so he can do whatever the fuck he wants really.
If you're a believer of Relativism there are no absolutes, everything is valid in its own terms, everything is essentially opinion and perspective. Similarly if you're a believer of Deconstruction you may say language is incapable of conveying a fixed meaning or universal truth because the words chosen and the point of view of the person choosing them inevitably distort the reality that the language purports to represent.
Kodes a deep guy don't attack him because you don't understand what he writes about away from dubstep...his theories could be factual, nonsense, fiction or non fiction (or somewhere in between as noted by another poster!)...Fact is there's no way any of us can PROVE what he's saying isn't completely bona fide to another individual.
Well that was my stab at it anyway! I'm no Doctor of Philosophy!
*PS apologies to the author I've quoted I just wanted to nick your copy and paste of those random words I wasn't having a pop at you just using them to illustrate a point to the people shouting 'Witch'!

people who slag off things they haven't bothered to think about first could stand to read a bit or, if they're not interested, keep their mouths shut. kodwo eshun is a good place to start.

I find this comment easily as offensive as all the people slagging off Kode 9/ccru.
