How? How did they make it so...growly.
It doesn't even sound modulated, it sounds like they made a whole bassline, then cut the fuck out of it. Is that about right? A lot of distortion and resampling? Any tips or techniques to achieve this kind of sound? I don't even want it as dark, I'd like it a bit more melodic, but I'd love to know how to get to that stage. It really works well with the drums, it almost sounds like drums, it has that single shot effect. Any tips would be great.
its a reese. a pretty good reese, I must say, but that effect is done by adding like 10 notch filters and modulating each one's position independently. I'm still trying to get a feel for making that type of sound.
Do you mean add a notch filter after every resample? seems extremely time consuming. But that bass is awesome.
no i mean by adding an eq with 10 notch bands or 10 notch filters to the insert and modulating each notch position independently, it gives a cool morphing effect if done right.
Isn't a filter with loads of notches just a Comb filter?

It is, but you've got way more control doing it the old fashioned way.

It is a comb filter except you can move each spike of the comb independentally

Thanks in advance!
Can anyone help me out with this one, please?

Oh seen, would you just automate the bands in a parametric EQ to achieve it then? Never heard of this technique before, modulating Comb filters in the synth never seem to get much effect from me.

too bad you dont want to learn how it transitions from a solid note to a stutter :/ i was thinking this is possible by automating your wave form from 100% to a saw or whatever kind of stutter you are looking to transfer to.
These bouncy monsters. im pretty sure you can tell which one im talking about, if not its the main one that you hear.

I think I've made a patch that sound like the growl, I'll check later if I can find it/make it. Do u have fm8?

Sounds like detuned squares with some delay (really low time, feedback pretty high) and distortion

I'm not black or from new york or living in 94 but I don't think that should hold me back.
