I know all the kids round here fucking love it, but I really can't work out why so many people still think it's hilarious to type badly on the Internet... surely the ironic appeal was lost about 5 years ago and now everyone just looks like they're too lazy or lacking in wit to think of a new joke?
It's a single joke. One joke. Like the one your Gran told you when you were 5 and you told to 5 other people and then promptly forgot. It's not a fucking genre of comedy in its own right and it doesn't work applied to every fucking post everyone ever makes on the cunting Internet. It's like you've all vowed to flog this midget shetland pony of a joke-horse with all your might for an entire decade after it'd had a bullet put through it's skull in front of the first hedge at the Grand National.
Or am I missing something absolutely fucking hilarious?
I'm enjoying these rants more and more these days. George Bernard Shaw was right about youth.

yeah but at the same time its just as annoying when people try to come across well spoken and educated by writing 3 paragraphs written like a phd text book on an informal, off topic forum, which, could of been summed up in a badly wrote sentence
a u or a 2 now and again won't hurt
that wasn't a dig at u btw, just in general

Did you intentionally write "could of"? Well done if so.
There's a reason it went into the unpopular opinions thread. When we were all 12, not putting our hands up or saying "I DON'T KNOW MISS, WHY WOULD I KNOW THAT?" was a fast-track way into the cool group because you were demonstrating that you're clearly no threat to anyone.
As an adult, it makes me think people have lost all semblance of self esteem. I don't intentionally write like a "PhD Textbook", I write in a way that, when I read it back to myself, doesn't fill my soul with self loathing. Occasionally I've been really proud of my contributions on here. In fact, being a member on this forum has inspired me to write an entire book.
I wasn't really aiming just at SNH though, but the Internet as a whole, but ok.... yeah, this
is an informal off topic forum... but does that mean it has to be filled with the same repetitive lowest-common-denominator bollocks every single day of the year? We all have extremely high standards for the rest of our cultural influences (great music, great films, great tv) - why are we so happy to settle for this repetitive, simplistic, Radio One standard, "safe" humour? Why not try and write something you're proud of once in a while?

You've set an extremely high benchmark, Magma. Why try to meet that when you can wallow in ignorance.
Basically, it's your fault.

People don't act stupid in class to signal they're not a threat, they do it to show they're too cool to give a fuck.

aha no wasn't intentional
yeah fair enough, if thats what u wanna do
just seems long to write paragraphs when a simple 'nah fuck that it's shit' would suffice
imo blame incnic, 99% sure he converted most of dsf to grammatical retards

Out of interest, what do you think you actually gain from socialising on a forum if you don't exchange original ideas with anyone? Is it just an alternative newsfeed or Reddit... just a way to get new links to YouTube videos or is it actually about... interacting with human beings?
I really can see the point in taking time to make a good post on an Internet forum - I even have strangers come up to me in clubs and thank me for my posts occasionally - the wasted time seems to be just typing "I agree" or "I don't agree" however the current grammatical trends dictate. If a reply doesn't add anything to the conversation is there really any point in even making it? Where's the value? Where's the reward? Why not set each thread up as a poll and stop people writing replies altogether?! Why not just post on Google Plus so that your mates can only add +1 to your link?
Surely you'd get the same level of reward grunting at people in the street as you would posting two word replies or single smilies on an Internet forum?
