Octatrack
Moog Sub Phatty
Verona DRM1

If you've got money to burn, any of those will kick start things for you.

If you're not looking to burn all of your loan (and assuming your monitors/interface are up to scratch), then get something like an Arturia Microbrute and a cheap drum machine like a second hand Elektron Machinedrum and you'll have the start of a basic live rig.

Hey

Been locked out for ages, like a twunt, back in now ;D

Ive picked up a JX3p with Kiwi mod since last we spoke, very cool, but f'in hard to work out whats going on. Need to buy the patch editor really.

And just bought an MPC1000, and a new (old) DAT machine, my old one is fecked.

Anyway, for the £300 notes or so the MPCs are going for, you could nt go too wrong, very powerful sequencers and samplers. I needed a sequencer, but have 2 akasi s2000s and an emu esi4000 ! I might sell the emu, anyone interested?

Otherwise, im gassing after the MS20 kits which are now only around 700 quid, but got plenty to keep me busy in the meantime. Still wouldnt mind a 727/606/626/505... or 808.

Cheers

Just arrived in the mail. Just playing some square waves off the MS20 through this and twisting all the knobs already sounds like some dark space based sci fi movie soundtrack.

£370. It's not cheap but the quality of the algorithms and presets is clear straight out the box. Normally the idea of a digital reverb pedal isn't super exciting but I love the crazy shit this does. Can get stuff droning basically forever if you want.

Nice Wolf89. The Space is totally on my life long list of gear wants ;p And it does seem knob-twist-a-licious

SHHHH, don't tell my wife.

Just picked up a second patch bay. I have used now for a few years the Samson S-Patch Plus, best patch bay I've ever used. Something so simple, but I've had problems in the past. Just picked up a Samson S patch, without the plus for $50. This'll allow me to at least patch EVERYTHING in the studio, despite the glaringly obvious void of a mixer.

Did I happen to mention I missed a $3000 board for $300 last week... :( Fucking hell, I really can't get over it.

I'm still trying to decide, a full desk or a compact rack mixer. I think compact rack would be better, but where I am, there is strangely a lot of 24-32 full format consoles going cheap.

...I'm the wrong person to talk to about this...I really want a mixer I can get my dub on with...I'd spend the money, space is the issue. I wonder if a lot of die-hard OTB folks around you are finally giving in to software? Also, NAMM is right around the corner yea? I think people tend to dump gear cheap, drooling with expectation.

Yeah, that first mixer that I missed, the guy was an old timer, had a band, they did their own sound, and he finally went digital. He was seriously throwing analog gear away, he was like fuck this shit! I LOVE DIGITAL!

When I went to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert a year ago I noticed that the State Theater in Playhouse Square had a really top notch digital mixer with all kinds of bells and whistles. I stood and talked to the sound guy after the show for a while and he kept saying he doesn't miss analog at all--he had been doing sound in this theater and another one at the Square for 20 years or something like. Always thank the sound guy ;p
