H.G. Wells' "Things To Come"

I enjoyed it. Worth a watch if youre into old science fiction and dont mind old B&W movies. Pretty well done action scenes in the beginning and some interesting optical effects. (And the story is good too : P)

Yes !!! Been really enjoying Hoffman's films recently, Capote puts him up there with Day-Lewis in terms of acting IMO

Image A single man. Very powerful movie, the encounter with Carlos is a beautiful scene.
Image Punch-drunk love. Didn't quite get into it, which is weird as I love Emily Watson & most Paul Thomas Anderson movies. Maybe I should rewatch it

I've had trouble taking P.S Hoffman seriously ever since seeing him wank in 'Happiness'. :|

Iron Man 3

Worth watching the first two before going to the cinema yesterday to cut down on the questions from the missus. Also liked the tie ins throughout with the terrorist organisation in the first film being The 10 Rings, Yinsen's cameo in the third film etc etc.

i liked iron man 3 but it wasn't as good as it should have been, they tried too hard to make it funny instead of the normal "wink to the camera" kind of humour that RDJ usually nails

woah RDJ = richard d james??!?!?!?

Agreed.

Liked the line about Ben Kingsley's King Lear being "the toast of Croydon...wherever that is". The missus and I were the only people to laugh at that in the whole cinema

I thought it was shit. Didn't finish it.

After the opening 20 minutes it becomes woeful. I liked how their hair was still perfect after the tsunami. I knew it was going to be melodrama, but I didn't expect this much.

yeah that was in the good sequence of the movie though - the first 20 minutes or so were spot on: straight into the hectics not too much useless background story (though the discussion about moving back home minutes before the tsunami hits was forced and unnecessary) . I distinctly remember Mcgreror looking styled looking for his wife & kids. But in the end that's not the point.

The movie delivers what it promises and I was a sucker for giving it a go any way. This simply isn't my type of movie. There was one sequence near the end in a dream that was handled pretty well (it invoked the feeling of drowning quite well) but other than that, it's simply nothing more than a family drama to which you already know the outcome.

The place beyond the pines. Loved it. Surprisingly convincing Bradley Cooper (only seen him in The Hangover 1 & 2 before this one).
