Made this tonight. I apologize for the cheesy loop, just threw it together to put into context. So far its just a massive with two OSC's, WOW filter, Redux(bitcrusher set very low on hard mode) EQ (subtractive), and (moderate)Compresssion. Any one have any suggestions on other processing that i could do? It def has a lot of bite already. Also, any tips for note programming?

Any questions just give me a shout.

I feel that its worth mentioning that an envelope on a double notch filter within massive in very small amount makes it bark very noticeably. You have to hit a sweet spot though, so fiddle around with yours.

I should also probably add a sub under it. hmm...

*edit* added sub, mixed poorly but whatever. i wanna go to bed.

Or in massive use a combo of the carbon/scrapyard, and then any talking wave table, it'll already sound sorta growly and all you need is distortion, highpass, and a formant filter and it sounds quite good.

The second method (without the wow filter) can be heard here at 0:22

Are the bases coming in at 22-25 or so all from massive? Or are those from Fm8. If so did you make that with carbon and scrapyward? If not could you explain how you made that sound, and how you are filtering it. And could you explain what you mean by a talking wavetable... I'm firmilar with most of the WT, but which ones are ussualy good for talking bases and growls? Gentle Speech? Roughmath? Thanks

Sechah wrote:I realize my bass had no bass or low end, I made the FLP in like 10 mins and didn't feel like adding a sub bass and automating a filter over it to fit with the growl, plus there's a high-pass being automated on the growl so it loses all it's low end there.

Also here's the FLP link: http://www.mediafire.com/?64win0p5927844i
I downloaded your project file.. the samples were missing, and I have the old version of massive so the patch wasn't loaded. I got bored and made my own, but your high pass filter gave me big tip to filtering.

The whole filtering here is just one high pass filter with little resonance. Then, I distorted it using camel phats. I'm not automating anything inside massive.
What wavetables are you using for this growl?

no screen shots.. thats fucking stupid lol. But i'll tell you the main stuff is simple fm modulation. I think on this one i did on carrier modulated by two operators. Then a vocoder. A HP filter. And amp distortion units. Also used a lotta multiband dynamic units to suck out the frequencies i did or didnot want. and finally cutting out 100hz below and layering it with a sub..That part is really important

Oh please.
The ppl that have "piled on the hate" are the ones that try to help folks.
You replied with a snotty response in a thread that was setup to share growl techniques.
You got upset because no-one noticed your growl.
Yet when you're asked to clarify you tell the guy it's stupid to post screenshots.
We made jokes, you took them personally.
Need a hug? :w:

I uhhh.... welll....

Still hoping for any suggestions on further processing for my growl I made. And i'm willing to help anyone that wants with what i've already got.

So... just trying to get some positive responses and avoid this shit storm of off topic.

This x100 heh.
I'm not piling on hate at all, I always post tips/screenshots/tutorials if asked in this thread and others... it just bugged me the way you were like "no screenshots, that's stupid"... why?!

Also @Mazak sounds quite cool, perhaps cut some of the mids (500Hz ish) and maybe chuck a phaser or flanger in your fx chain on like 30-40% Wet. Also, try sending your growl to another mixer track, chop all the lows, add a bitcrusher and add a stereo widener - atm your sound seems a little muddy and mono, play with these things to get it crisper and wider. As for note programming, pitchbends would be cool on every second growl at the end.

Anyway, it would be super cool if people wanted to share info, or maybe even possibly discuss the methods of processing they use to achieve the growl synth sound since that kinda seemed like the whole point of the thread and all... would be NEATO GUISE.

Kinda late but I just discovered this, those are some sick growls. Really clean sounding and also very refreshing sound, not like the same rinsed growls you hear in most tracks these days. Liked this, good work bro.

That sounds like a seriously proper rave tune. I have always been obsessed with "barking" growls (Ry Legit - Transformer is a good example), but this is pretty cool. I can't tell if you actually sampled a bark and layered it with sub, or if you actually synthesized that sound. If you did synthesize it, would you kindly share the patch? Big ups.

Also, can I get a 320 of that track? I'd like to put it through some spectrum analyzers and possibly listen to it from time to time.
