Truly awful.
Awww, really? That's annoying
Its not horrific but It did seem to be a really bad attempt at being a tarintino film. Id still give it a watch.
Have you seen this Wub?
Even if the trailer does not grab you, you still should.

I thought it was a good pastiche or semi-'tino like a Robert Rodriquez film.
It's basicly an animated version of that southpark episode where Russell Crowe is a sailor that travels around the world and beats up people - combined with wu music and drunken masters.

I'm a big Wu Tang fan and by extension a big RZA fan, so you might think i'd be biased in his favour but it really was borderline offensively bad.
The story is so bad that even the good actors in the film come across as utter amateurs. I mean RZA has seen a ton of martial arts films - all he had to do was take the best plot devices from a few of them, make a few tweaks and make a decent film (see: Kill Bill) but what we have is a lacklustre attempt at a half-way original story that has been poorly executed, poorly acted and poorly choreographed (Yeah, the 'martial arts' were shite!).
I know RZA did the music for this but I hope he had nothing to do with the rest of the sound in the film - it sounded cheap but not it the ironically tacky way, just bad. It's not really something I usually notice so that speaks volumes as to how bad it was.
Ugh, there's so much more that disappointed me with that film but i'm sure you get the drift. I just don't know how they got all the actors they did - seriously considering the possibility that some killah beez had certain loved ones/family members hog-tied in some basements!

The Usual Suspects
What a film!!
I might even watch it again tonight, not entirely sure where Pete Postlethwaite is meant to be from though, very strange accent.

What's your opinion on Leo in Blood Diamond? Or are you fairly oblivious to the Rhodesian accent?

The films that wu sampled are just like it. Poor acting - over the top campy effects - drunken master, shogun etc.
I thought the dialogue was surprisingly good, considering what it was and Russel Crowe was great. The story was probably never supposed to be that important and had no effect on how it worked imo. A pastiche is usually a non ironic approach at something that is corny in the eyes of others, this might have been a bit to ironic to get the lads interested, but the rest of us with a bit of interest in aesthetics and style and so on, I would definitely reccommend it to.

There is no poor acting in Drunken Master or the Lone Wolf films. As for the effects, well, that's what they had to work with in the 70's.
The dialogue was gash, I have seen loads of (actual) martial arts films with better dialogue AND story. If the story wasn't important then what was? It had nothing else going for it.
The Kill Bill films are a perfect example (perhaps the only example) of how this kind of project should be done. This is an example of how it shouldn't. There was no irony - RZA tried hard with this but came up short.
If you are interested in non-martial-art martial art films with style and cool aesthetics, watch Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

How about that bald guy from the mummie?
I remember him in an action movie with Jean Claude Van Damme (playing a Cajun) and Lance Henriksen playing the bad guy. That was a bad ass accent. But I'm pretty sure he really is from South Africa.

Hard Target! Such a great cheesy action movie.
Only good South African accent movie was District 9.
Just watched Dead Man Down, fucking great movie.
