Yeah, Im very interested in hearing your opinions on it.
It looked amazing and was quite violent and entertaining in that respect.
It's on torrent now.

Everyone whose opinions I respect regarding films has said it's one of the worst films they've seen all year. Like it's a shit rip off of drive with no plot, crap attempts at being all cool and symbolic and no-one acts or says anything in it, just sits about saying fuck all with some violence in between. I'm not even gonna bother with it.

I watched half of it, it's like Drive but with heavy Lynchian vibes (kinda poorly pulled off).
Has moments of great cinematography but it's more just a barrage of colour.
*Look at this shot...RED!!11!!*
*Next scene, look how fucking yellow and green everything is!*
+flash back in time 30 seconds earlier, repeat scene+
-cold dry acting by everyone, moody as fvck-
It wasn't particularly bad, like the director was trying to up his reputation as an arthouse/experimental moviemaker but it came across as just random nice shots put together and occaisonal tech9s and teen rape.

I heard it is like a turd with a pretty bow tie on it.
or this decades doom generation
or someone hoping that knowing how to point a camera would make up for the lack of plot.
Is this accurate?

I think your mates are overreacting.
I liked it. Yeah it has no real plot, I suppose it is more of a fairytale. I think it's well worth a watch but it's more a visual experience. It's not a work of genius but I found it quite an entertaining watch. You shouldn't take it too seriously.

In the end I think it is much like Valhalla Rising to be honest. With some of Drive's visual and musical aspects.

I'm sort of 'relieved' reading this. I had exactly this experience and thought it was even more uncomfortable that it looked as good as it did - for literally no money (11million dollars which is about the half of drive), when the film was bordering on unwatchable.
I've probably never looked forward to a film more
I don't know if I would say don't bother because it looks that good. But it's actually grating to listen to any of the dialogue.
It's not like the plot is a problem per se, more the way every line is set up. Unwanted pathos is one way to put it.
It takes forever for anyone to speak, to sort of underline how everything they say is going to be bleak or (laughably) serious and they stand there and sort of stare.
Joeki, I think valhalla rising is a bit more outright arthouse where you have to interpret a lot more, but I can understand where you are comming from.

It's worth a watch if you're a fan of Refn and Gosling. The plot is meh, but the cinematography, violence and music making up for it.
Once again Gosling has only like 18 lines or so the entire movie which makes him seem like an autistic guy like in Drive.
It's a good movie, but nowhere near as good as Drive and a letdown after Place Beyond the Pines.

*spoiler*
doesn't he let someone cut someone cut his arms off at the end? That's fucking stupid no-one would do that. That's just trying too hard to be cool
I mean I liked Oliver Stone but I'm not going to watch Savages because it sounds like utter dog shit. Which is basically the vibe I'm getting from this.

Yes and spoilers it was the price he paid to beat the guy to death which was the main revenge plot of the movie

I'd say watch it, he didn't quite let it happen as much as accept it was going to happen regardless.

it sounds like a shit version of drive the same way that in the 90s there were loads of shit versions of pulp fiction from everything I hear though.
I mean I'm fine with movies with little content ( I collect mainly obscure horror and exploitation films on VHS and dvd) but this just sounds totally half arsed and derivative of a successful and actually good movie.

I'd say the comparison to Valhalla Rising is accurate, the cinematography is gorgeous and the over the top violence is great, it has a shallow plot though and does come off poorly compared to Drive.
