I agree with the above to an extent but all three artists mentioned have nothing in common with the songs you mentioned.

You might want to check into some dub techno. At least check out Basic Channel, Maurizio and Porter Ricks.

Porter Ricks - Biokinetics might be right up yer street (and if you want some proper Ambient then you can check out Thomas Köner on his own as the man is a genius).

Yeah, but they would appeal to fans of the ambient and dubby techno, I'd say. And I'm quite literal with my interpretation of the word 'ambient'. 'Ambient techno' is an apt enough name for a genre, but I don't think that ambient techno is 'ambient music'. Too rhythmic and percussive. Lovely music nonetheless.

That's the best Porter Ricks record.... heh, then I'll add Echospace, who are amazing. Edit: Meh.. and Dublicator and any DeepChord release, really. All really really good stuff.

You're quite right, and I was half way through a big dirty list of great ambient when I thought it might be overwhelming compared to what the dude was listening to. But I see where you're coming from. October Language and Harmony In Ultraviolet are two records EVERYONE should own (or at least hear once).

If the OP is in the market for more good ambient music then William Basinski's Disintegration Loops series comes highly recommended. There's a lot of "music" to digest between I, II, III and IV but it's majestic in every way. Beautiful really.

Try Basic Channel, Rhythm and Sound, Deep Chord, Quantec.

Sometimes when I'm in an ambient mood, I have a Steve Roach station on Pandora..... and loads of really good ambient come on for hours at a time, I can't remember all the artists I've heard, but try it out.

Aye, but then you could say that all Ambient is a shite rehashing of Erik Satie's idea.

Eno is good and he's considered the best but I personally think there are other folk that have made better material.

By the way, the latest Alva Noto Xerrox Vol.2 is a peach of a record.

SleepResearch_Facility gotta be the most underated ambient artist ever, maybe because he's quite recent and hasn't released that much (one album in 2001, one in 2004 + a 50minute track, one album in 2007) but he's damn impressive. he's got props from steve roach on his site too, so if you're a fan of roach's sound i'd definitely suggest SRF.

Deep_Frieze is fucking great. It's of the Thomas Koner school of glacier Ambient (making up genres here, woop). Plus all the tracks are latitudes and longitudes which adds an air of mystery to the whole thing. Big rec's from me on that one.

It's dark Ambient with a lot of rumble. It's noisy without being static or harsh too. I think you'd dig it going by what you've rec'd, mate.

I do like rumbling. I'll have to check it out. I actually found a Sutcliffe Jugend track the other day that I couldn't physically listen to the entirety of. It was a first... felt like my skull was cracking.
