Cocaine - "for people who don't like drugs"

The Sunday Times plugged drug expert Tom Feiling’s new book ‘The Candy Machine: How Cocaine Took Over the World’ this week, interviewing the author in an unusually frank article titled ‘The truth about cocaine in Britain’.
Mr Feiling, an award-winning film-maker previously best known for his documentary ‘Resistencia: Hip-Hop in Colombia, noted that cocaine use has comfortably overtaken ecstasy amongst young Brits aged 16 to 24 and is taken by such a wide cross section of people that it’s ‘no longer a yuppie drug or a club drug’.
“Cocaine might be called the drug for people who don’t like drugs,” he added.
Do you agree with the sentiment expressed? I've always kinda thought that coke was the drug that lots of people who were scared to do pills would try. I've met people who were worried about "being out of control" on anything stronger, but were perfectly fine with doing the odd line.

yep.. i know some people that don't smoke weed but have already done coke...
for me it's one of those drugs that I have no interest at...

Yeah, I can see that, coke doesn't do much so I suppose I kind of agree with this. I never understood coke use other than it being a status thing, I like my drugs to actually make me feel different, coke never really did that but then again I never went looking for it just tried it when people had it.

Yeah so I've heard but it's quite hard to come by and costs a shit load. I expect pure Colombian stuff is amazing but I doubt I'll ever get the chance to do it.

Destroys countries, destroys the rainforest (4 sq metres per gram according to The Guardian), doesn't give nearly as fun a high as something like MDMA, wears off too quickly, too expensive, unreliable quality, sold by dodgy fucks and massages egos that really don't need any help.

The sole purpose of cocaine is to make boring, overpaid assholes more comfortable in their own skins while people die to keep them supplied with their drug. Fuck coke.

I only smoke weed, hash when it's available and not soapish, have an ice cold kopparberg when the weathers nice, oh and shrooms, only liberty caps... Never touched coke but from what I've heard off my brother, who used to deal both coke and weed, he said that anyone who says coke is shit has not had decent coke, he put it that bluntly, he said if you get some proper raw coke, you will have a good time...

cocaine is such a bunch of baws, just turns people who are normally already jumped up stnuc, into even MORE jumped up stnuc, and the constant "hey lets get some more coke" conversations get to be LONG

Yeah, but crack's a whole different scene isn't it? Only one of my friends admit to even trying it and I've never been tempted.
All I know is that spending £40 or £50 on a gram of gobshite powder cut with Shake & Vac is a mug's game. Every other drug I've tried has been cheaper and more enjoyable.
Not saying it doesn't get you high but it's such a short term result that it just leads to thinking about drugs all night instead of getting on with having a good time. At least if you do a pill or some acid you get a few hours of satisfaction.

all of this is true cocaine is normally waste but next level of drunk is a special feeling, although you have to be fucking hammered before the lines come out otherwise you get neither high nor drunk. I think chemically the shit does combine into something new?
there used to be a lot of around thanks to a mate of mine but it got boring to go out without it and that seemed a good enough reason to stop the regular use. nowadays I hardly ever do it because even with good shit I still end up spending 100quid now I have to pay, to be high on and off for the night and then feel shit the next day and bleed like Andrew WK in front of the boss.
21 and bored of coke... fucking jaded post modern world.
Good flake is like nothing else though, anyone who doesn't enjoy the high is sniffing caffeine + baby bum powder but even the best shit in the world lasts 20 minutes before you're back outside trying to scab together some paper.
and Jesus H. Christ NEVER NEVER give strong drugs to girls. its like a fucking zombie movie when you've got a rock and a razor and these sniffing, mascara bleeding ego-whores are advancing towards you en mass, fighting each other about whose friend you are most, who thus deserves the lines first, who should fuck off because they're a dirty coke whore blah blah blah. and these are nice girls normally, some of them went to a convent school. rich boys chat shit and act like stnuc but do at least tend to buy champagne,
fucking women should never, ever be allowed to take cocaine, they simply don't have the personality security necessary.
