I am an incredibly big nerd/collector of emo.
(this thread is for emo not "emo", as in the spin off movement from Hardcore Punk)
favourite bands from each era?
80s rev summer, mid 90s (definitive emo I guess), screamo/"emo violence", and the modern emo revival stuff?
Im a big fan of..

The Faith - Subject to Change ... probably the first proper proto emo band, they became Embrace, and you can hear it on this record

Mohinder - discography .. massive fan of Mohinder and all the early Gravity records bands, the pure chaos mixed with decent production makes this record a keyboard smasher

Hassan I Sabbah 7" .... absolutely banging Screamo, really OTT but the lyrics never go ULTRA CHEESEY like their contemparys

Tubers - s/t LP ... brilliant, ex Twelve Hour Turn and the Shivering I believe.. big 80s post punk influence
here are some emo videos to watch..
