Has Banksy struck in Bristol again?

Image
As thousands of people flock to Bristol to see the contentious work of Banksy, the graffiti artist may have struck in the city once again.

A controversial piece of stencil art has appeared near Ashton Gate depicting Jesus, being crucified, wearing a Bristol City home shirt. To the bottom right of the image is the word "religion".

The graffiti was first noticed on Monday and is on a wall next to Bar BS3 on Ashton Road, which is very popular with City fans on match days.

Although there is no Banksy tag on the image, the landlord of the pub thinks there are several signs pointing to Bristol's notorious street artist, who did a piece called Christ With Shopping Bags a few years ago.

Banksy, who has a record-breaking exhibition at the City Museum and Gallery, is reported to be a Bristol City fan.

And some believe when his Mild Mild West mural in Stokes Croft and his work on Park Street were splattered with blue paint in June, rival Bristol Rovers fans may have been to blame.

Doesn't seem detailed enough for me, could be wrong though, the paint thing on the Mild West piece was a group of Banksy hating artists, kicked off on Hijack forum

Banksy is not a writer, people should stop refering to him as a graffiti artist because hes not, couldn't drop a dub in a yard so had to resort to stencils! Fakeeee! But I can't hate on him because he's been successful in his antics, in fooling people in thinking theres actually intelligence behind his shanagans and got paid for it, so he gets his dues.

Then they cleary don't understand the actual meaning of Graffiti, therefore can't be a 'real' writer.

i.r.line.ur.tag.and start beef wiv ya crew.

Sorry.. I just hate the mentality of graff artists in Nottingham, they all seem retarded. "I'm gonna stab ya coz ya better than me!" or "me n me crew are gonna come and bomb your house, kick the shit out of you and push ya down ya own stairs"

I'm not in the scene myself, simply coz i'm wack at throw ups and I really couldn't be arsed with the grief that comes with it.

Just because you don't like someone's style doesn't mean they don't do graffiti. Banksy puts paintings on walls. He does graffiti. It's really that simple.

He's fallen off though, now he's a "bad graffiti artist".

It doesn't look like a Banksy to me, I bet it's a from a fan, couldn't put my finger on why though.
