Ahhh, the balls in my corner of the park now doing a favour....yeahhhh.

We've got a good deal on Fuji refurbs at the minute, mate, all suitted and booted for under 2 Bullseyes. I'll sort you out a deal as well, forum discount and shit.

8 MegaPixel, nice and thin, rechargable battery, and a good picture - I know, coz' I bought one of the stnuc.

Interested? How much you looking to spend, max?

ooohhhh is it, well im basically looking to spend as little as possible without looking back and thinking i wish id used a better quality camera or some such. Whatever I spend on the camera is all just money from what ive got to spend out there basically.

http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/sto ... ifications

Have stumbled across this. Its got everything im really after, waaaaay more pixels than I really need, 3x optical zoom and it runs on AA batteries. Anyone got any experience with these? Have found one for about 45 quid! Seems pretty fecking reasonable to me...

But yeah, if you got anything down the lower end of the cost scale I could be well interested rats ma man! Cant see myself being able to fork out anything about like 60/70 quid though :S And I got to say, that one for 45 seems to pack pretty much everything im after!

THE 730 IS A PIECE OF SHIT.

Trust me, mate. If you're looking for a good buy, I can do a Fuji 860 for you for £50, memory card and case included, and you'll have to pay 7 quid for delivery. It's a bit more than the Sony, but it's a much better camera. Runs on double AA's as well, but you have to remember, double AA camera's consume battery life like there's no tomorrow. And it's got a nice size screen.

It's a bit hard to find cameras which give decent quality below 70 quid, but like I said, we've got a bunch of refurbs in that are dirt cheap.

If you're going to be lugging it around with you all the time and stuffing it in bags, pockets and something I'd spend a little more and get something robust rather than a plasticy pile of shite. I have a titanium Canon thing as well as my dSLR, it's weather and shockproof - pretty robust camera.

Cost about £300 though so yeah.... um find a second hand one?

Cheapest hard-bodied compact you're going to find is goign to be about £150.

Buy something Canon, can't go wrong with that.

Canon are grossly over-priced. Don't buy something Canon.

Probably a bit personal preference but I (and I'm not the only one) think that Canon > all.
At least their SLR's are.

And overpriced? You pay for quality innit.

Blimey that doesnt half sound like a good deal on the fuji. Whats wrong with the 730 though? Just general picture quality? Reviews seemed good for that, but there was a bit of whinging about battery life. Am more than happy to just pick up a tonne of batteries and take em around with me though, last thing I want is one with a built in rechargable battery or whatever.

The screen is fucking rubbish, and the pictures have a general yellow-ey filter about them. They're over-exposed as well. We used to sell them for £120 smackers when they first came out, but they were just so shit.

Thing about Sony and Canon, people'll go with them by default as they know the name.

Don't get blinded by shit like megapixels too much... once you can take pictures big enough to print or display as full screen on your PC (say >2-3Mpx) then it's much more important to worry about the quality of the lense.... after all, there's no point in taking a high res picture of a blurry view.

Buy a camera from Rats, he sounds like he knows what he's talking about*

*this week's compliment. I'll get back to calling you a ginger tnuc in a minute.

I prefer Nikon dSLRs to Canons, I find they're built better and they're comfier to hold. The end product is neck and neck though - very little difference between the two.

I have had a Nikon, F65, D50, D70, D80 and D200, and a Canon 350 that literally went 'bang' when it got a bit wet. Still prefer the film over digital - don't really take many photos these days and sold most of my gear and cameras but I kept the dSLR :)

Like...I got to say im sounding very tempted by that offer on the fuji man. What size memory card could we be looking at? I was hoping to grab myself something at least 2gb. Couldnt deal with running out of room out there lol

Possibly sort some ting out via pm time?

I got this one about half a year ago and I'm really happy with it.
Glad I spent a bit more to get something decent.

It's all in the review.

You'll probably find something tailored to your needs on that site.

Been thinking about picking up a an LX3 for my own India trip but will probably get a canon G10 mainly because I prefer the ergonomics,

Oh, pick up a ton of SD cards, Sandisk Ultra 2's are a good compromise between price, speed and quality, 2gb is less than £5 online, but most of the memory cards on ebay are fakes.
