Fortcoming Plastician Digital Label

Yo!!!

After all the trials and tribulations involved in putting out vinyl these days, I've come to find myself sat on a huge back log of productions I never found time to release or to put into the Terrorhythm release schedule. I don't want to give them away to another label unless I feel the label can actually do something I cannot do on Terrorhythm.

With vinyl production becoming increasingly difficult due to lack of pressing plants, I've decided the best thing to do with these tracks is to release them digitally, in full quality audio files including Wav, Aiff and 320 MP3.

I've had enough of waiting on barcoders, pressing plants, couriers, art designers and everything else involved in putting out records.

So i'm starting a little label which will release 2 tracks per month, on the 21st day of every month - as 21 is a lucky number to me and I've not had a great deal of luck releasing music over the past 5 years.

The digital label will be called 21st Data

The first release will be dropping on SEPTEMBER 21st......

Track 1: Missing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkGb7vhAARA

Track 2: Pushkin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsSiajkVv-8

Some of you may remember a 2 minute clip of Missing from my Myspace page a long way back, it has been a much sought after track so I've decided to kick off the releases with that as the lead track. Pushkin was featured on my Rinse:06 mix CD.

In the coming months I'm planning on gradually releasing all of these unreleased gems I've been sat on over the months and in some cases YEARS!

October 21st release is going to consist of

Track 1: The Clouds
Track 2: Delovely

I've not got any plans to release any of these on vinyl just yet as I really can't be bothered with the hassle of dealing with 101 people to do one job, and I don't trust any pressing plants with their in-house mastering. I remember the days of handing lacquers and a cd of the artwork to a bloke in east london, wait 1 week for test pressings and a further week for your full press. Unfortunately this is not the case.

In the next few days I will link you to the site / sites that the label will be available on.

Any suggestions as to which tracks you might like to see released on the label will be greatly appreciated. For the time being I will only be releasing my own material on the label.

its not that its more difficult really i think its just the fact you have to wait on so many people to get a release out. digitally i can just put them out as soon as i have mastered them.

Fucking this.

As a label we really had our shit together from jump street and one bullshit hassle after another makes it almost a real pain in the ass to end up with an empty wallet and probably even a debt tbh.

Can't wait to cop those releases. Definitely a fan.

I totally hear you. I've been doing strictly digital releases for about a year now. Although the expense is minimal which is nice, you can't beat the timeliness of getting a release out there. It's been too risky to put everything out on vinyl. Yes, it is a pain to go through the whole process, but more than that for me is the huge upfront expense. I have 350 copies of "Too Deep" on vinyl in the other room. Doesn't look like those will be going anywhere anytime soon. I think everything must fall into place for it to be worthwhile. I am looking forward to my next vinyl release (hopefully by early 2010), but the conditions are going to have to be right, and the planning must be in place. I am a vinyl junkie, and it's by far my favorite medium, but for Trenchant Dubs, I like to be able to support up 'n coming talent which is easier and less costly with digital.

Long live vinyl, I will come back to you full-time someday.

I have embraced the digital age myself. Big up Plastician. Bigger names doing this makes it all that more legit. Will be checking these out :!:

yeahhhh "Missing". Big up Plastiche! yeah the whole vinyl thing is very long, from beginning to end, one weak link in the chain can delay everything by weeks/months... u need a solid process from beginning to end

looking forward to digital 21sts!
