Sliding back into our usual 3rd Saturday slot, COLONY returns to The Russian for the first shindig of the post-summer season, and with another crack team of forward thinking beat technicians ready to let rip, it's business as usual at E2's sleaziest rave den.
Topping the bill is west London's minimal techstep wizard, Data, a man who's been on the lips/decks of those in the know for quite some time now. Pioneering a distinctly stripped down D&B aesthetic (alongside the likes of Instra:mental, SpectraSoul and Rockwell), he's made serious waves this year with a series of brutally reduced cuts for Metalheadz, Influence, Revolution and, most recently, Tempa. A DJ unafraid to take the alternative route, you can expect a host of deep, innovative beats from from him, not to mention some seriously subby bass frequencies. Second in line is Brighton's up-and-coming crossover wonderkid, Greena, whose forthcoming Apple Pips debut and riotous Ableton Live DJ sets have caused quite a stir in underground circles of late. He'll be laying down a barnstorming mix of house, techno, electro, dubstep, funky, grime and whatever else takes his fancy, all mixed with stereotypical aplomb. Finally, London-based DJ/producer/promoter Marcus Noblett aka P45 will be dropping in for a special live PA, hot on the heels of a debut appearance at Croatia's Exodus Festival. Founder of the perennially on-it Room 237 crew and newly signed to Nottingham's Oeuvre Records, he'll be showcasing a glut of fresh material that straddles techno, jungle, glitch, IDM and broken hip hop in true post-rave fashion. Nay bad.
The basement's off bounds for this one, but fear not, as COLONY stalwarts MB, CB and Darkin will be keeping things in tip top shape upstairs for the duration of the evening. That or your money back.
