I think he just chops vocals from songs/other sources...but don't take that as truth.

it could be a combo of both that and people he knows

I know nothing 'bout pro tools myself.

I use wave editors. I have audition...use it infrequently though. But I can do it in ableton without disrupting workflow.

but yeah wave editors are good. Wavepad is a good one too.

edit: i used to only sample and warp shit til it was unrecognizable.

if you search "Burial vocal samples" there was a blog post a while back of all the songs he got his vocal from, mainly just shitty pop rnb songs, most things sounds burial-esque if you coat it in reverb and pitch it in random ways.

I wonder if the reason why he didn't release Feral Witchchild/Stairwell is a lack of sample clearance.
