Hiya, I'm james, just started using Reason 4 to make some tracks and have been using boyinaband.com's video tutorials on dubstep, i can make a beat and that but when i begin to make the "wobbly bass tune" i just cant make a decent one, i mean, obviously it takes time and practise but it sounds so bad when i do it, i cant make it catchy and sound decent.

Also, do i need any other equipment apart from reason 4 and the PrimeLoops Dubstep Producer Pack? thats what i'm using at the moment. i dont have a keyboard or anything... Any tips?

 just open the files up...
the trick is not too just do aload of wobbles and thats it...
give them some space..
i will upload something ive not finished, but the wobble is at least at the right speed..at unison to subtractor..

without a keyboad, you will have to use the matrix thing....
until you get a keyboard, get fl studio, use the piano roll to make your melodies..

see the red things under each of the tabs, they control the volume..
right click on the main window and clear it,then move the red tabs up and down..

Yeah man, fuck the matrix for coming up with proper melodies. It is too fiddly and limiting in terms of melodies and arrangment (although it has its uses for cv stuff ;))

Instead, create a new clip using the pencil tool in the sequencer (hold down alt-left click to swap to the pencil tool momentarily). Double click the new clip to bring up the piano roll and use the pencil tool once more to draw in notes. The notes can be resized by dragging them from the edge or deleted by selecting them and pressing the delete button on your keyboard.

Also, check out the Reason patches in this thread here ---> http://dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t ... sc&start=0 The futures untold combinator patches zip contains some 'wobble bass' patches ;)

You don't 'need' anything else to make good music, but having a midi keyboard makes composing new melodies a lot quicker and easier.

Also, perseverance & knowledge are what help make good tracks. If you've only just started then be content with experimenting with things and reading tutorials/the manual. Once you know how the kit works, then you'll have an idea of how you can push the boundaries of your kit and make phat tunes :D

It all takes time....
