it has been brought to my attention that Will streetwise has ripped off a tune that i made.. he has slowed it down and credited to himself.. and is passing it about via a link on facebook.. this is what he put...
Hello All,
Here is a little Edit from myself and Richie Balboa.
It's more of a dubstep influenced edit this one but we rebuilt it from the original to make it 130bpm so slides into your breaks sets very well.
Had a lot of good response over the summer from this so we thought it would be nice to give away for you all to enjoy.
Just How I Like It (Richie Balbao & Will Streetwise Edit)
this was followed by a myspace link and a link to download the tune...
i cant believe someone is cheeky enough to put someone elses tune out under a differant name..all they have done is slowed down.. (which takes 2secs) n even to say they rebuilt it from the original too.. i am furious at this.. if u know Will streetwise.. beware!!! he'll will only rip u off!!!!

Check the La Roux "Will Streetwise Edit" pon his myspace. Hmmm sounds a wee bit like the skreamix to me. Bare cheeky just slwing down a tune, chopping things up then claiming credit.

Isn;t this just an edit? That's how I took it from reading your post.
Quite a few dubstep tracks have been used for edits by breaks guys recently and up until now they have been received well by the original artists.
Elite Force has done some awesome ones, check his soundcloud page for the datsik/16 Bit edits.
Surely it only increases the awareness of the original tune.

Sure it increases the awareness of the original tune... if the original producer is credited. It looks to me that he gave himself credit for the edited version (cool) but also gave himself credit for the original which he didn't make (not cool).

I guess it didn't come across like that to me although he should have put the original artist name on his blog on facebook looking at the post again.

classic...
OK lets clear this up, I am a breaks/funk/hiphop dj who makes "Edits".
Think A.Skillz or like Jaguar Skillz... I make edits of tunes I like from different genras and use them in my dj sets to give me a sort of edge over other djs.
The idea being i play tunes no one else has cause I edit them about first, edit, rerub, refix call it what you like that just what i do to fit in my style of djing.
Said tune arrived to me a while back off a close friend of mine so i rebuilt the intro so it drops after 32 bars and pitched it down so it would fit in with my breaks sets...
there are prodigy tunes, africa bambaata tunes even a la roux edit on my myspace none of which have been credited to the original artist.
as soon as this was brought to my attention i took it down.
im sorry for anyone who took it the worng way.
