Heard some people say dubstep been around for 10 years.....

For me that seems kind of disturbed. Heard Hatcha play a 2004 set at fwd and that didnt sound like dubstep to me, more like dark garage. Maybe it's a question of how you define dubstep. Been into dubstep since 05-06 and thats where i consider dubstep tp get where it consideed to be dubstep.
What do you say?

Yep it has been around that long. The term was coined before all the halfstep shit started. That said Skream and Kode 9 were doing halfstep beats in like 03? I had a few records in 02 but didn't really get into it until 05 myself.

Ok thanx. Maybe the whole '"snare on the third" really isn't were dubstep started. Just what many people today consider dubstep though..

i see the change of 2000-2006 of what could be considered as garage - dubstep as comparable to the change of 92-98 jungle to drum n bass

The snare on the third definitely isn't where dubstep started. Listen to Anti-War Dub by Digital Mystikz. Definitely a dubstep track, yet it's not a half-step beat.

Yeah but that tune came out 2006 a think.. So ofcourse there is music considering to e dubstep today, that hasn't got the snare on the third. But my point is that ithink alot of people, especially the newcommers to the scene need to hear that kick, kick, snare, otherwisw it's not dubstep to them
