Ok well maybe not full blown dubstep, but who's seen Ghostbusters lately? Remember the scene when they shut down the containment unit and the beam of energy shoots out of the top of their building? Saw it last night and I must say that it has most of the characteristics of the dubstep, just with a little added eighties cheese... I believe the track is called 'Magic'.

Old school. You know Billy Dee Williams used to rock proto dubstep back in the Paradise Garage days. I've got some tapes somewhere.

We were sittin around watchin that last night and at that part, just as I was about to say it my girl said 'Is that dubstep?'...

This post got me thinking about what other songs from way back might be considered proto-dubstep, but Im drawing a blank... can anyone think of any?

along the same vein as "magic" peep some of shuggie otis' stuff. "aht ah mi hed" especially. not sure if i'd call it anything close to proto-dubstep, but it's a jam nonetheless.

adrian sherwood from the onu label uped the levels from reggae and dub and bim sherman, african headcharge, dub syndicate, mark steward, creation rebels (starship africa 1978) its played with instruments and not the dubstep-beat but still it has alot of the flavor...

this adds so much weight to my Burial is the same person as Bill Murray theory...

That track has been rocking my bass bins for years...It has a lot of similarity's to lots of style's of music, as does a lot of film music..

phew thought i was the only person. Glad i can share my dirty secret with someone. Bill Murrey is also RZA whited up. They used camara tricks in Coffee and cigarettes......Its true..

There's a thread knocking around some where i just cant be arsed looking for it....I think both Shonky and i were planning to do a show around this theme. Not together though. That would be perverted. i would expect very little music would be played.
