SOme fucking amazing bits of poetry in there, other times shut the fuck up and and let me hear kode 9s lush tunes without your jabbering.
"in september my cousin bill up a big spliff"------"now hes bunning rocks"------""its true"
love the way he carries dem lines.

That's in Sign/Sine of the Dub innit? Not heard Prince's 'Sign of the Times', well not memorably anyway, but doesn't Space Ape use the little purple warrior's ones lyrics (albeit not word for word)?

mm.. "sign of the times" original heavyweight business.. simply *cannot* be touched ! not lyrically, not musicically.. nothing. too too strong.

prince's sott is a proper classic (except for the corny big synthetic 80s marching band drums at the end - that bit is much better live when he had his band playing real drums)

sometimes I love Space ape, but sometimes I wish he would shut up as well. He always uses same lyrics as well which is a bit annoying.

i love space ape! his lyrics are crazy... his voice mesmorising...
loved him from hearing him on the dubstep allstars with kode 9...
Bought the Kode 9 and Space Ape tune 'Curious' at the weekend...anyone else feelin this? i love the actual track, and space's lyrics are wicked... so intriuging...
'step into the rhythm of a head on collision,
corrosion leaves scars pon the inside...
hands are tied, eyes open wide,
difficulties that come with time....
coloured by beauty, the sun, the sea,
never once did you think this can happen to me...
always trying to master the slave...
now i look to save the slave in me...
in memories, the pressures are lifted, come again from born
in another form...
restriced by restraint.... marked clearly by an absent stain.
in desperate times, we pay a price.. then gasp and scream as them twist the knife...
open up to the physical, the cracks was there, in need of repair....but you left them fe fend for themselves...
maybe just maybe we should tell you
maybe just maybe we can feel you,
maybe just maybe we can save you,
maybe just maybe we will kill you
THATS FUCKIN DEEP!!!!

stunning work.
i'll be mulling over some of these lines for years.
doesn't matter if i never understand them, i still appreciate the effort.
and the attitude.
and the voice.
i must admit, i did lump him in with lynton kwesi johnson at first, stylistically anyway. low-key post far-i gravel.
but the dude's definetely got his own sound, dunno if it's developed or if i took a while to notice.
i really like kode9's instrumentals in a mix, at a dance etc, but the album is lit up by the vocals.
they are essential, some of the tunes seem to be structured around them, and they flesh out the listening experience so it almost walks up and looks you in the eye.
lively.
when i consider playing someone this album, i don't even think about whether or not they might like dubstep.
i just put it on, and if they don't notice it, i turn it up.
it's a beauty.
conceptual obscurity?
20-odd years ago i never really understood what most songs were about.
i certainly didn't find it a problem then, and now i relish that rare, endangered enigma.
i'm fed up with the creepy behaviour of showpersons who fear the resentment of the envious.
yes, there are people who think things that i don't.
there are people who have delved into areas that i don't (yet) have experience of.
it's no big deal.
that's not what makes me a fool.

on another note, i heard a lkj sample in a track but cant remember the name. "madness tight on the heads of the rebels," anyone know the name? it was on dst dawntempo show i think.

Not sure in terms of actual content (which I think has always been wicked), but the processing of his vocals have got better and better recently. The way Kode treated the vocals on the album in such different ways for different tracks really made Spaceape seem like another instrument - totally essential.
I was really excited about how he was developing his style in a live environment too at one point this year. The dubstep allstars 3 launch at fwd>> was totally unbelievable, but since then I think I've only seen him once.

I don't think "Memories of the Future" would work without the vocals. Just my opinion though.

saw him first @ first leeds dmz, then that fwd>> then bash. has progressed so much as live mc in that time it's quite incredible.

@ben: the treatment was the best thing about it. someone should do a screwed & chopped version of the album.
@rachel: bash was incredible - best live performance from SA to date imho.
