Is it me or did this cool thread disappear? If it has can it be started up again?
I'll start it :

The Bar9 Bubbly synth... Any ideas ?
Also, he gets a well grainy bit crushed sound that i just cannot get close to even with layering... any help?
The song is the second track in my latest little mix here too:

I just signed up for an account becaus eof this thread. Bugger!! It was epically long and i barely scratched the surface.
Still on the brightside at least now i can ask my question without worrying if anybody else has asked it.
Here goes -
How in the blue blazes do you get that really clean, fast chopping wobble sound. A good example is the very fast bit on "Where's my money" or also Sub Scape uses it a lo but it is particularly prominent on "Wrong Number".
I know that there is either filter or amplitude modulation going on but as soon as i venture into anything above 1/8 it starts getting messy. I have tried Massive, Albino, Hydra, Absynth and external LFOs but i just can't get that nice clean choppy wobble. I've tried low passes and band passes, i've tried combining filter and amp mods but no clean choppy wobble.
If anyone can help me with this i'll be much obliged.
Thanks.

Have you only tried sines? Perhaps you should modulate the cut-off with a saw or a square?

I've tried and tried again. Saws, Squares, Organs, Vox!! My buddy and i got Absynth out last night and started messing about with that and got kinda close by drawing in a filter envelope (sucha powerful synth) but making a 4 minute track like that would be LONG!!!!!
I can get the wobble but i am really feeling that more choppy sound. Sub Scape nails it on Wrong Number and i have heard Trolley Snatcha using it a fair bit to.
I thought it may be a ramp down LFO shape to make it stabby but anything over 1/8 sounds messy.

Can't you copy and paste envelopes in your DAW?
Perhaps, try Renoise.
Make a chain like this:
LFO Device > Automation Device > Filter Cut-Off (of your VST)
In the LFO Device, click on 'custom' and then 'One Shot', draw a custom LFO and draw a 1/2, 1/4, /1/8, 1/16, etc, in a single envelope. Put them fairly far apart (or meh, a single note.. doesn't actually matter how far). For every note, retrigger (using a command) the LFO and choose the point you want to see triggered. I find that the most convenient way of working with 'wobble'.

Sweet. Thanks mate. It has been doing my head in. Literally hours spent manipulating patches untill they just become mud.
I will slow my roll and be more patient with the envelopes. Seems to be a hell of a lot smoother and it gives you way more control.
Thanks for the time.

Ok not such a tricky one here, but i cant figure it which doesnt say much for me

...im tryin to get that long snare sound. Like propper long...so i can filter out the sound then bring it back in for the last of the tail. Ive layerd the snare with clangs and upped the decays and im fairly sure the final piece of the puzzle is reverb but i dont want that reverby ambiance...maybe im just not using the right reverb settings or maybe im using the wrong samples giving me more reverb sound than others would any1 got any tips?? peep the snare at the end of midnight request line

heres a pack full of similiar/solid snare sounds (id suggest layering a light clap underneath for added oomph) -
http://rapidshare.com/files/133619745/Snares.rar.html and
http://rapidshare.com/files/282144236/Snare.rar.html id also recommend adjusting eqs a lil n add sum reverb i experiment alot like addin two different kinds of reverb n shit can make it laster longer ill see if i can find the dll file of a sick reverb vst 4 ya! its just allabout trial and error wen it comes to drums good luck making it and -
god bless

Hey, I am new to dub step production and am also very interested in this. I would also like to know how you get the original bass tone before it is wobbled. I have tried using square, saw, sine and triangle waves but no combination seems to give me that raw first bass tone in wheres my money. I am using Ableton live 8 with operator and have had no luck. Is there a different instrument in ableton that would give me this tone? Should I look in to a different VST such as Albino or Absynth? Sorry for the noob question but you gotta start somewhere...

Thanks

i've got a couple i've wanted to learn how to make for a while if anyone knows?
first is white collar grime by mistabishi, the high pitched synth at 1:20 that kinda sounds like a rhythmic laser
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfhWMMAy ... re=related
second is the synth used in the verse of i'm not alone by calvin harris, starts at 1:29.
