Just when you thought it couldn't get any fresher, Surface Tension Recordings and Toronto's Christian XI step up with Atmospheric Pressure EP; 4 tunes that are guaranteed to pass the smell test(or the speaker test), and take you on a cosmic voyage through several musical themes.
From the first alien synth in 'Dreaming Void' you realize that XI is definitely from another planet… a planet where the bass is about to drop; And drop it does. The funky, slightly-out-of-time rhythm combined with the sultry horns will leave less sure-footed skankers slack jawed, with nothing but their gun fingers to protect them from the second drop--which makes the release worth the purchase price on its own. Up-tempo GarageTechnoStep speaker damage session kru.
Further down the worm hole you'll find a second Slice of Heaven in a tune called "Drip." Bass driven Detroit techno, combined with classic 2step and garage vibes that would make fans of Martyn call for the rewind. But again, the star of the show here is the bass line... Bare dance floor vibes all around.
"Trinary" itself an exercise in precision bass detonation. Should you be caught in the middle of the dance floor when Trinary drops, God help you. Pure shoulder lean business could have elbows flying when she catches her stride.
"Ethereal Plus" is sure to bring you and your neighbors to a place of Zen. Smooth, dubby warmth preceding the funky future tech vibe gradually builds to what becomes a rather driving exercise in guided bass meditation--leaving you refreshed in this fitting close to a rather brilliant and expansive series of tunes. Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em!
With support from a vast array of talent, including: Starkey, 2562, Shiva, Roko, Bun Zero, Yo Mama, Her sister, Your sister, Your girlfriend and Your Boyfriend, and many others worldwide… not to namedrop. Tell your friends.
