n00b to dubstep outside of what I've heard from mixes from Skream and Benga. Heard 2562's "Aerial" album, bunch of Skream, Benga, Rusko, Caspa productions as well as mixes, both of the Virus Syndicate albums (well, that's more like grime) Then heard Ben UFO's Fact mag mix, and some Joker mix. That's about it.

I desperately want to hear something fresh and hot right now and expand my horizons of dubstep. This genre is pretty cool in how it blends with one of my favorite genres (breaks) and other styles, like drum & bass.

For starters, can anybody recommend some mindblowing live sets? recent one comes to mind for me is Skream vs Benga @ FWD. That shit was hot.

I'm more into the darker style of dubstep, not the slow kind. More in the likes of the sound of Benga - Buzzin' ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7cJ8iGzBMA ) and the hard filthy riff in The Qemists ft. Wiley - Dem na like me (Subscape Dub) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXjK08brMuM and shit like Skream - Filth ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vc_YP_H3ZEc ) those are the kinds of sounds I dig, even though I say I dont like that "slow" dubstep, if it's badass enough (Skream/Filth) then I dig that.

I dug Caspa & Rusko's Fabriclive mix.

now I just want to expand my dubstep. so who's/what's hot ?

I saw nero at a Hospitalised night at Matta recently and it was unbelievable. Played some incredible tekky sounding stuff. Did some mixes that just blew my mind and the pace and selection of the whole set was spot on. I am pretty sure they were using three turntables as well because i heard "Lights are Blinding" rmx coming in and then it disapeared and then it came back. It was a truly epic set. All blended perfectly and the track selection was HEAVY!!!!!!

I have been looking for a mix of theirs but haven't had any luck besides the MiniMix on their MySpace page.

Well saying that dubstep for me is the fact that no-one can really tell you what to and what not to listen to, they can advise you based on their own preferences but on the whole i'd advise alot of going out and discovering by means of finding what style you like best. For mixes i'd highly recommend a browse of the Mixes section, Excisions Shambhala 2009 Mix, Faib's Worn Out Places Mix, and Phaeleh's Your Time September Mix are some of the manny incredible mixes that are worth checking out from there.
