Rane TTM 56S Flex FX help .........

I am having a problem with the Flex FX on the TTM 56S
I am using the Korg MiniKP hooked up through the send/return connections.

My problem is with the Dry/Wet Slider. when moved from dry to wet the music completely cuts out unless you are applying an effect and are touching the Kaoss Pad. I was under the impression that this only controls the amount of effect applied to the music & when the slider is set all the way over to Wet that the Kaoss Pad would function as if it were being used as Direct input (Which it doesn't). I find it rather fiddly to have to slide the Dry/Wet slider over every time I want to add FX Then back again to play the music. Also when slider is all the way over to Wet with an effect applied, the effected sound is much quieter than the un-effected music when the slider is moved back to the Dry position.

Do I have this set up right, am I missing something? Or is this the way Flex FX is ment to work? If so Iam finding it rather cumbersome to use in this manner while mixing & trying to add FX.

Thanks for any help with this.

you can set the kpm to pass all the signal through without effects as well, check your manual
skratchworx.com wrote:The Mini-KP has two modes – ‘dir’ or ‘snd’ (direct or send). Essentially all it means is that one of the modes (direct) passes audio through when an effect isn’t engaged, whereas the mode for send / return doesn’t.
(check the skratchworx review as well, good read)

since either the 56 nor kpm has volume adjustments on s/r, you are stuck with the levels you have (but you could try connecting it through the phones output, might give you the levels you need).

or you sell it and buy a kp3 instead

Yo, did you figure this out? I decided to have a go with it as I bought a Rane TTM56 a couple of months ago and realized that I hadn't played with any effects through it yet. I hooked up a Kaoss pad KP2 to it and had a bit of a laugh. It was fun.

When the wet was fully engaged and your channel fader was down, you would only hear the sound of the effect. On the Kaoss pad this was useful for recording a loop from the record and then pulling the record out. Moving the wet/dry fader adjusted the volume of the loop.

Perhaps it is the setting on your mini KP. I've never actually played on one of those before, so I'm not sure about that. On Rane's side, it worked perfectly.
