ripping vinyl to your laptop

I used to do this way back in the day with ease on my desktop which had a solid soundcard and soundforge.

seeing that i no longer have a desktop, and only a macbook, i need to figure out a way to rip vinyl to my laptop without a "line in" on my soundcard. is there any way to do this through USB? maybe line out in the mixer into USB on my laptop, then record in audacity? hoping someone can help.

thanks.

I assume you can also hook up normal decks to do the same thing?

You can, but he has no line in on his soundcard so usb suits him.

the usb decks ive seen are shite, i use a griffin imic which is a usb plug in with a mic in on it, probly the cheapest thing to get audio into an ibook, quality's good, recognises in everything ive used it ; soundstudio, peak bias + its own program final vinyl. good value. seem to remember a similar product on the mac store that had phono plugs + a ground on it, which might give better quality
