Right, so while i was DJing a house party here in Manchester someone somehow snapped my headphones... now i need a new pair and i'm pretty keen on these Sennheiser HD-25's i've seen alot of people using. I've heard they sound sick, but i just wanted abit of feedback from people who already own a pair, good or bad things are welcome, i just want to know if they're worth £140

The best headphones for DJing, if you want to use them to produce as well that's a different story

no good for production
if you wanna produce in phones you should look at something like Beyer DT's
I have some DT 100's which I love but even then they can be very misleading with bass when I double check on monitors, a good solution though if you are somewhere you can't make much noise, like me right now

They're a joy for daily listening.
I don't produce seriously, but I find setting too much store by studio headphones a bit odd. No headphone is going to give you a true monitoring experience, kicking studio monitor speakers is all that matters, and even then you should listen back to your tracks through as many different bins and cans as possible to get a bit of distance and a sense of how they're going to sound to other people IMHO....

Buy them! The noise cancellation is great, the clarity of sound is awesome and they dont break easily. If they do break then every part of the headphone is replaceable. I have never looked back since buying these. A sound investment (excuse the pun)

they are not shit for the studio actually. however i would not just use them exclusively to make your tunes. theyre great for djing as the bass response is very good and they go very loud. theyre also good for listening to music in general ie on the tube etc - great sound quality and isolation.
there's countless threads on all this already though, do a search.

I've had mine since 1998 the only headphones ive ever owned and they're fine for production - you need to switch between headphones and monitors (headphones for fine detail/stereo image + monitors for frequency) to get a decent mixdown buts thats probably the same with any pair of headphones

Massive life-long Senheisser fan here!
Agree totally about them being more suited to DJing.
I have a couple of different sets of Senheisser headphones, including the HD-25, HD650, and some old HD580. All have different uses, so yeah, if you are going for DJing, get the HD25.
Not so say you can't produce on them (they make a sound, and are a lot better than most consumer headphones, so you can rely pretty well on them, just they will not be as good as something like the HD650 (or the Beyer DT990/880 stuff)
I say go for it! Although, you should be able to get them cheaper than 140 sterling.

i use these (mrk 2's) and i gotta say they're amazing. for the size people tend to underestimate them but they have great sound across all frequencies and great noise canceling capabilities. you can barely hear people talking to you even when nothings playing through them! seriously recommended.

I need headphones for DJing and I think I'll get these after the good things you guys have been saying.
What should I get out of HD 25-SP II and HD 25-1 II though?

I have had the HD-25 1 II for about a year now, and they are great for mixing and I've compared them to the Technics RP-DH1200 as my friend has them and the Technics are so damn heavy and feels like there's so much reverb when listening to music. While the HD-25s feels very detailed and sharp in sound, extremely balanced in treble and bass.
I've been using them exclusively for production as well, and I love them. I do A-B between my monitors and headphones every now and then but I mostly use my headphones. I don't get why people bitch about them for production. Maybe it's down to preference.
