kinda bored of seeing the same names popup although they are really fucking good. ie, dr syntax, stig of the dump, taskforce, foreighn beggars etc. all good but I'm in need of a new crew of artists. something that isn't London.

Ill second Jehst, new album on the way? Probably wont live up to "return of the drifter" but heres hoping.

I really like Krispy 3, and Braintax.

My favourite UK Hip Hop album by a fucking country mile is this bad boy from the Bristol crew Parlour Talk......

"Padlocked Tonic"


Seriously my friend, do yourself a favour and hunt it down as it's insanely awesome.

I picked it up waaaaaaay back in the day (99 or 2000) as it was Knowledge Drum & Bass Magazine's Hip Hop release of the month if I remember rightly? Anyway they had a great and very funny review of it so it was bagged immediately.......the part of the review I remember is..... "the beats here are tougher than an elephant's scrotum!".....and they certainly are!

It amazes me actually how 99% of the UK hip Hop heads have not heard of this album, as it really does kick some major MAJOR ass.

Two other albums that are essential baggage are....

Gunshot "International Rescue"
Skitz "Countryman"

Damn, i'm ashamed to say i have never heard of parlour talk before. Even though i have read a hell of alot of bad writing on Hip Hop. Any chance you know where i can pick that up 10 years late?

parlour talk album is indeed good. got it on vinyl a few months ago for £7. god bless ebay.

if your after some stuff that not everyone has (ie- not beggars, braintax, etc..) then have a hunt on myspace/google/etc for these folks, mostly based around Leeds/West Yorkshire...

best album ive heard a hilw, while on the softer, loungier side of things, is Homecut - No Freedom Without Sacrifice

Pat D's new album, Soulscapes & Jazzbreaks, is good if you like Homecuts.

I haven't listening to Hip Hop much in about a year, let alone UK stuff (most of my collection i have really gone off, wondering what i was thinking).
But i have just placed the Verb T + Harry Love album on, and its better than i first thought. Dirty Diggers was a group i used to enjoy aswell.

Check out 'Black da Ripper - Black is beautiful' and stuff by Giggs.
Both cross over into the world of Grime and consequently don't sound like a bunch of student pussies banging on about global warming and capitalism.
