I was looking at the Akai LPK25 Mini Keyboard Controller a few weeks ago along with the NanoKey.Akai was only 5 pound more and its a lot sturdier (full size keys), feels better though the Nano Key has Pitch Bend/mod buttons so depends what you are looking for.

Shame the Nano Keys are like Laptop buttons and alot of people have had trouble with them falling out i think.

Probs best to get an M Audio Oxygen for the price, will only be 15 pound more.

Got one in January, had good experiences whilst in the car/on the train etc. but you wouldn't want to use it for any situation other than that.

The keys fall out if you bash at them, and when one of mine popped out the spring got lost, so i'm unable to pop it back in.

I haven't used one, but as JT said the Akai version seems superior.

If you're planning on just using it on a desk at home though, i'd just get a standard 25key controller.

It's probably good for travelling, but if you need it for home use - I say buy a full size 25 key key key key keyboard

Yeah mines a piece of crap, two notes fallen out and 5 or so more are dead. I don't have a full octave in the whole thing.

only downside to akai is it's midget keys like a microkorg, but hey it's built solid

i have one and am trying to sell it. the thing is SO fuqin hard to play normally if you play keyboard... the black notes are not where they should be so the spacing is all fuqed up, its impossible to just jump on and jam with unless you are really used to it ime. at least its velocity sensitive so u can bang out some quick drums or something if thats what ure after. i got mine to plug into my laptop so if i get bored in between jobs or stuck somewhere doing nothing i can record something stuck in my head. but ive only used it like 3-4 times since last christmas. if u wanna tap out drums id suggest the one with the pads instead, probably better, although its basically the same thing. if u play keyboard at least halfway seriously, u won't want one of these probably.

they're just really poorly made, invest in something that is built well and easy to use so you won't have to worry about getting something new for a good while. "easy fixes" or "cheap solutions" always end up actually being a bigger problem than if you would have just shucked out a few more dollars from the start

hence the akai, 10$ more and is real keys though micro otherwise oxygen8v2 or akai mpk25

bought it - broke within the weekend

bought 25 key Carrilion - indestructable (but dont buy one cause i am the only person it seems that got one to work)

go with akai as per what deadly habbit said

I have a nanokey. One of the keys didn't work when I got it and the keys aren't the nicest to use, they stick sometimes and don't have a good feel to them.

Anyone use the Akai MPK49?

The Nano-products like Nanopad and Nanokontrol are pretty shitty. Save up and get something better. I would take a old cheap casio keyboard as a midi controller over a korg nano one. The Nanokontrol is like a toy that doesn't work right. All the buttons get pressed if you press 1 too hard, and they like to get stuck too. They remind me of something that would come with a video game like DJ Hero or something..
