and what about the quality control on beatport?

can you still place things on beatport if your label isn't reaching the minimum sales requirements?

There is no trial period! It's just £15 for a year per release until the 30th of November 2009. The intro offer is just cheaper than the regular price which will be £25 per year, with a £10 renewal fee. I should mention that your not bind to stay with us for the whole year you can request removal at any point.

The records have to be of sufficient recording standard. If it doesn't meat the standards we'll let you know and refund you. Shouldn't be a problem for dubstep producers as they record in software and is all music production so quality should be really high. Tunes might not be very good but the will be of sufficient quality.

You get your sales monies when you hit a total threshold of £30 per financial quarter when the sales figures are released! =] If you request removal you will also get paid any outstanding monies even if this falls under £30.

Why does the music have to be of a certain standard?

You're getting payed so if we want to waste our money on songs that aren't going to sell then surely it doesn't matter to you how shit they are?

Can you provide examples of the tunes you have already distributed onto Beatport i.e. links to the tracks.

It has to be of sufficient recording standard it's part of our agreement. The sufficient recording standard is mainly aimed at bands that have sketchy bedroom recordings. But as i said because the type of music you will be selling is all mainly written in software you won't get that sketchy bedroom recording sound like armature bands get. I hope that makes sense or at least you get what i'm trying to say.

This sounds like a very good deal. So after the costs have been recouped by sales, whats the percentage split? Publisher / label percentage

£15 is just the set up fee! We don't take any money from you! You get all the monies from sales! So once you've made your £15 back in sales any more money made after that is yours!

You could sell £140 worth of tracks that's all yours! We'll send you your sales money when the quarterly sales figures are sent out.

We'll get a notified how much each artist has made from all 140 stores which you will be on. We'll then send you that money made in that quarter I straight into your account! It's simple!

Set Records:
What you sell is up to the label and the artist to promote themselves, the Distributor has no interest in whether or not you sell, so long as you pay them the fee. You are your own salesman, just like with any vinyl distribution or digital distribution deal.

You will definitely make 15gbp if the release is even REMOTELY good and break even, I can tell you that. I've personally done it with a release that I now know was pretty shit. Live and learn lol. That was on 1 site, so yea it's possible. 100% royalties is also great.

I'm kinda interested, but need to know some more info.

Have you actually placed tunes on any of these stores before? If so please list some examples of the artists you distribute for and provide links to their tracks on these stores.
You must have had some success stories no doubt so shout about these. How many artists do you currently distribute for.

Also for an active business the last update on your site being 03/08 is a bit worrying.

How can we track our sales? Is there a login to a backend of a website?

I'm intrigued...
