What do people think of the different online production courses now available?? I know that there are some pretty decent ones around, with full tutor feedback and webchats etc. But I just wanted to get some more opinions on whether people think they're worth it?

Got any links to post? I have only seen ones that are program specific like Cubase, and I think the one @ Full Sail and SAE but not sure if they have full tutor/student one-on-one type things.. there's a couple more but I can't remember the names.

I have seen the ones with SAE and Point Blank and DJ Academy...

But I reckon the ones on this site look the best:

http://www.pointblankus.com/

I'm pretty interested in the course on Mixing in Logic (http://www.pointblankus.com/mixing_dance_music.php)...as my basic production skills are failing to get me that crisp pro production sound. Anyone been on a course like this or know of any other good ones or cheaper ones with the same level of commitment and a time with a pro producer as a tutor??

PEACE

I think the information you pick up from a physical tutor is really invaluable. They can share their own personal knowledge and is worth a thousand pounds £££

I reckon your bang on mate...Its gotta be worth a fair bit to get someone who has years of experience to give advice/input/feedback on your tracks/production skills.

in my opinion you can find far more information for free in forums and on youtube than these online courses offer, it's just their packaged up. Real personal tuition is probably more valuable but online most of the info you pay for can be got for free (not via piracy but via other people offering free tutorials), it just takes a bit more searching.

At the end of the day no amount of internet tutorials (or even real courses) are going to make you master the tools or make fantastic music, they teach you how to use the software and how to achieve certain techniques but it's only practice practice practice which makes you full proficient with the tools you use and gives you the ability to make good sounds.

I'm not say the courses are useless, they can be very valuable and give you the tools you need to get started but they are only the beginning of the journey.

Do I think they're worth it? Dunno, never done one haha.

If you really can not be assed to do your research on the net (which in fact you really should be !) In stead on doing online course go down to your local college and enroll on a btec nat dip in music course

dpm't waste your cash if ya have a good brain. rather books, trade mags and experimenting. everyone i know who has done a pro audio school has told me i knew more and not waste cash for piece of paper. just be patient and take take and stuff yourself full of knowledge and hunt it down or experiment till found.
