TT500's are good but just get 1200's. You can get them cheap 2nd hand (£300 ish) and you know they will be the same as any club you play in.

Theirs nothing special about Technics, Everywhere is just afraid of change

I use Vestax PDX2000, Pitch range 10000x better then the shoddy +/- 8% you get on technics, torque motor owns as well, theirs not one thing
the technics do that compares.
Their main argument is their durability, but lets be honest who really goes about dropping their turntables???
I'll Just say it........Fu*k Technics

technics & vestax are ultimately the best decks you can get imo
especially as far as torque & breaks ect are concerned
The only worry though, is with vestax they don't have a UK dealership which makes getting parts for them a nightmare in the result of a repair.
Technics will last forever.
They say that if you take care of something it will take care of you, nothing is more true about the technics. i have had my pair now for around 6 years & the person i bought them off had them for around 4 before i got them.
Other than the odd service & pitch calibration they have never given me any trouble (touches wood)
I know not of any case of a pair of technics been unrepairable & iv seen pairs that have been dropped down stairs, drinks spilt down them & allsorts

I use TTX's myself, while I love them and they have their advantages(the pitch range is nice for fitting a lot of different genres into each other), 1200's are great for a reason...one thing, while the range is greater on TTX's and those Vestax that were mentioned, Technics are a bit more exacting.
If you just plan on spinning dubstep or focusing on one particular genre of music, if you can find 1200's, go for those
edit: I really want a pair of those Technics that go to 16%, pretty much dream decks for me

Stanton STR8-150 is the best turntable I have touched... stronger torque, straight tonearm and a very accurate pitch.

if not better...have you ever even used them? probably not...lol
Do a lil research, they have waaaay more torque, better pitch range, movable pitch control, built like a tank, switchable tonearms (curved and straight) ...plus they are $100 cheaper...i have dj'd for years and have NEVER had a dj complain about these decks. Ed Solo and a few others preferred them actually...
just because a turntable was designed in 1979 and hardly ever improved doesn't make it the best.

I know this guy who was pretty drunk once and stepped up on his SL1210, he stood there with both foots on the middle of the SL for a good few seconds, and nothing happened to it..
Another friend just told me that he was in the middle of a mix a few years back when this huge 50kg speaker fell down, landed on another speaker, then somehow made a little hole in the sidewall, then fell on his SL, with alot of noise (broke the needle, and probably fucked up the record too), but the only thing that happened to the SL, was that the on/off button broke, and it took him 2 minutes to fix when he got home, but the speaker made a fucking hole in the wall before it landed on the SL.. these are pure steel my friend

I bought my 1200's new in 1994, took them everywhere, in fact they basically became the community decks, people would drop by all the time and pay their records, people would borrow them for house parties, used by clubs, taken to under equipped radio stations, have never had a single repair, and work as good as i the day i got em...1200's FTW

				TTx'1s
Good Points
High torque motor
Built in beat counter
Interchangeable tone arms
Literally starts and stops like a CD
You can also re-arrange the controls for various mixing styles
Bad Points
None yet
General Comments
Having been around Technics 1200's for a lot of years, I was not sure how the Numark TTX turntable would compare. Simply put, it's better. Now I'm sure that after 30 years someone can make a better DJ turntable. The thing is, people just accept the 1200's as the pinnacle of DJ turntables. At one time Cerwin Vega was the best sound, period. The Metron 1500 watt amps could not be beat. Today they are very average! Same as 1200's! Yes they are built well, and are very reliable, but an 8% pitch just isn't enough. When they came out there was no scratching or DJ battles. Just simple beat mixing. Nobody used a beat counter, you used your ears. Today on the TTX you have a 50% pitch variance, a beat counter and keylock. Keylock electronically eliminates the voices sounding like chipmunks at higher speeds. It locks the tone no matter how fast you spin the record. Simply put - incredible! And yes the platter starts and stops faster than the 1200's. Plus, has more torque. After 30 or so years the 1200's are now simply good. They are no longer the best.
just one of hundreds of reviews...

Pretty much every club or event i've ever played at it's Technics.. industry standard
altho at Home I have Vestax PDX-2000 and I love them, had them 5 years so far with no issues, if they break at any stage, i'll buy another pair of them
They suit my style of mixing way more than Technics..
but Technics are a great solid workhorse deck, I've dropped one down a set of concrete stairs before (good old pirate radio) and bar the cosmetic damage it still switched on and played tunes fine..
my advice try vestax and technics if possible, go to a shop where the have both on demo, and then decide from there..
