Hey, I was wondering, as i am new to this. Can I use any UsB/Midi controller keyboard with any software?
for instance, I use FL studio 8 XXL Producer Edition and I want to buy a keyboard to plg into my laptop, I was thinking of buying an EMU Xbord 49 Pro to start off with, would this work? Or do only certain keybords work with certain software?
sorry about the noob question
thanks in advance

as long as the drivers are supported and recognized in the software yes.
and generally yes they work with most soft. a better way to go is a midi card that is universally supported and direct midi cabling into it

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is an industry-standard protocol defined in 1982 that enables electronic musical instruments such as keyboard controllers, computers, and other electronic equipment to communicate, control, and synchronize with each other.

I can garuantee that every piece of hardware you find with a USB port will be compatible with all the software you will ever want to use. :)
