could this end up a problem?

someone emailed me this link.
http://www.myspace.com/eightysix
not the guy himself but someone I know who accidentally left the numbers out of my myspace link.
surely some of you have had something like this happen.
is it worth considering?

My friend (Kminus1) has a name already used by other artists. He differentiates himself by spelling it Kminus1 and not K-1.
He also has Kminus1.com, so I guess that could help with markiting and promotion etc.
You could trademark your name in different regions, then shut the other eightysix down legally..?
I'd say either stick with it and accept the risk of problems arising in the future, or change your name now.
While we're on the topic,
Baby D vs
Baby D. The rapper should be shot for making such shit music and tarnishing the fine name of Baby D imo...

hmmm
I'm thinking out of sheer laziness to think up another meaningful name for myself...I'm gonna trademark the name. Even to get to 86 in the first place involved going through 50 000 names. the English language sucks lol.
for the time being I'm gonna have TM beside it though.
however I may be absolutely fine, since I use the actual number while he has the word itself.

Yup.
Also, you could consider arranging an 'accident' for Eightysix...
It sounds like 86 is meaningful to you?
Maybe make up a name that isn't actually a word? (8T6, Aye Tee Sickz etc etc)
Futures Untold is a blatant rip of Future Prophecies and Future Sound of London.
Furthermore, I have direct competition here on DSF with Untold, Future Producer and Future One!
Battle Royale!!!

yeah there's some meaning behind that.
weren't there two recognizeable producers on here who have nearly the same name. mighta been Plasticman and Plastician....
perhaps not.
I remember there was a related incident where one of them was accused of selling unmastered tunes over DSF.

@ 'accident'
if I pepper my name with symbols it might fly right? _<86>_ on some 'the artist formerly known as prince shit'
but if all else fails, I have a goon squad that runs deep....international tings. they are 'accident' prone.
dubstep has such ridiculous names sometimes though

How do you trade mark your name???

if it's unregistered you can put the TM symbol beside your name.
to get it registered you have to go to your trademakrs office for whoever deals with intellectual property in your country. in Canada it's the Canadian Intellectual Property Office of Industry Canada.
shit costs $250.
apparently the process takes 10-12 months total. so to register it in multiple countries would take a bit.
I can't imagine many musicians going through with this though. I see Zomby's has his name as a registered trademark. quite possibly it's just the symbol and he didn't register it...but who knows

In the UK, it is illegal to add the TM mark against unregistered names & symbols etc.
There are copyright and trademark societies that can help get your IP recognised legally in different regions (like North America/Europe etc).
The Intellectual Property Office deals with IP registrations in the UK. As you've pointed out, it costs a bit and takes ages!
The other thing to do would be to incorporate companies with your chosen name. Although it doesn't give you the right to use your IP exclusively, it helps to stiffle the ambitions of most contenders to a name. If someone does take up legal procedings against you, maybe it would be worth settling out of court for a tidy sum and just changing your name?
Or just don't worry about it, make tunes and live your life!

There's actually a 3rd Baby D who makes more superior music than both of them. As a fellow supporter of good music I advise you to click the following link

on a side note...myspace is fuuuuuuuucked. on that page...I scrolled down and found the following:

If you have serious designs on world domination, you'll need to ensure that when people google for your name, they always reach your site.
I see a flaw already --->
http://eightysix.co.uk/
Nope, I'd defo change your name to 'the artist currently known as 86, not eightysix'
