Basically, i need a MIDI keyboard as i've got to that stage of producing where i know it's for me and want to get better. Also, I have a couple of mates in some bands that IMO and they agree if i wanged in a synth and banged out some synthy stuff (not enter shikari screamy shit though) it would be cool for their band. So here's the dilema, I don't know that much about midi keyboards so I want to know a midi keyboard that can be used for production like hooked up to my comp through FL studio but also in a live band.
1. can keyboards run for production and as a live instrument/
2. can i load sounds into the keyboard i.e my own sounds like grimey bass to make their bands not like every other band in the town?
3. is it not worth it and is it best to just stick with a MIDI keyboard and/or a synth?
any help is much appreciated.

Provided it's hooked up to your laptop on stage you won't have a problem.

This, or get a synth what doubles as a midi controller.

have a look at some of the korg synths, played around with a few of them in with bands and they are mint.

Yes you can do all of that. Being able to load sounds into the keyboard varies, but there are plenty of workstation keyboards around that let you load samples into them. Most of them are older though as hardware has kind of slowed down when it comes to things like that. Check out something like an MPC+midi keyboard, or any number of samplers.
If you want to stick with software, you can use a MIDI controller/keys with a laptop. Also check out the Muse Receptor which is the best possible way to use software in a live band setting IMO, they are rack units that act as dedicated VST hosts, and are very stable. They also have the option to add a monitor. You can get them refurbished right from Muse at about the price of a good laptop, or cheaper in some cases.
