he didn't really talk about any of the music that this forum is about did he... i'd say that's been the thing keeping hip hop interesting since about 2006.

the last mindblowing vocal hip hop albums that i heard that were really doing something new were edan's beauty and the beat (2005) - i've never heard hip hop fused with a psychadelic aesthetic like that before and haven't since, and then obba supa's to:am / free:am (2009). i've never heard such an ethereal, dream-like hip hop record that wasn't part of the anticon west coast scene but that was uniquely british. for vocal hip hop at least then i agree with him.

... maybe me and reynolds need to hookup and go for a lads night out to the brothel.

This was better than the Frere-Jones piece in the New Yorker that it cites. The New Yorker article made some heavy claims without any citation to why. At least Reynolds bolsters his point with reasons.

i don't agree, its another example of poor journalism by reynolds. do your homework, have a depth of understanding and knowledge of the topic you choose to write about and write about it. or GTFO.

i rate the article myself, but then i understand it's place in the cosmos, which is completely insignificant.

opinions are kinda pointless - so is talking about stuff really. action!
