Trying to source stuff for University FYPs is proving to be a nightmare because there's nothing about it from a reliable source >.< I mean, there are magazines but that's not 100% accurate, so instead I'm forced to troll the forums looking for information, and then trying to get multiple other posts to corroborate the initial post :/

What information are you actually looking for?

loads of stuff has been written about dubstep and it's all on the internet. this might not be exactly what you're looking for, but if you're writing academically about a non-academic subject what more do you want? dubstep quarterly review?

The Guardian fucking love it. Well...not Caspa, but Deep Medi & stuff.

They at least publish the word 'dubstep' in some way, every week. Often album/show reviews and occaisinally articles about brostep/urban music etc.

Well more how Dubstep evolved, I know the basics of it (UK Garage, people breaking away from the mainstream hype stuff etc...) and I've got some examples of Breakstep and a few of the intermediary stages between Garage and Dubstep, but I'd REALLY like a decent website/magazine/whatever with an explanation of it's roots in the UK music scene and some musical reference points, cause you won't find a "History of Dubstep" book in your local library ¬_¬

I have been looking around and I went through the wiki page and picked out some of their sources and had a look around them and they seem okay, but obviously with internet sources it's hard to prove their legitimacy when anyone coulda written it. I mean, yeah maybe I'm not looking hard enough but I just kinda felt like I hit a brick wall and so why not turn to the hub of all things dubstep :3

There's a fair few mini-doc's on youtube, would that be classed as a reliable reference? I found a few videos that helped me out when I was doing a little uni project not long ago.

That's interesting... I've been looking at those Dubstep DVDs they've got out as well as potential sources of info too, and I've hopefully got an interview with Threnody who was a big proponent of Breakstep which is kinda cool But yeah, thanks venuq, I'll check it out

it explains the evolution of dubstep. Its got some really good "FACTS" in there, but we assured there are some opinions in there too, make sure you pick the the right ones. Subjective, depending on where your from.

Ask a real dj or producer and their view of things and quote that!

AWESOME!! Thanks man, will deffo get on that shit asap... And do you reckon the bigger names lurking about on the forum would answer questions? I've not really had any encounters with anyone so I wouldn't really know lol
