MANIAC..

ok so bit grim for xmas day, but would you release a maniac track (hypothetically) post murder trial???

just seems weird seeing his name and that he has upcoming releases , i think i associate his name more with his murder attempt rather than his music..

....errr. wasn't it a "murder plot/plan" not even attempted murder? or do they classify that as the same thing?

I'm not justifying anything.

but I will say that Maniac makes some fucking large beats.

still gonna buy Wreckage / Thug 12" when it comes out regardless.

.... err, yeah i meant murder plot / attempted murder with accomplice whatever trial,

just weird, kinda feel like his name exists outside of anything now, as the person behind it has done something so taboo he kinda seperates (for me anyway) himself from any kinda credibility yknow? shit i mean he made some bangers sure , but i wonder what he'll be remember for i guess...

hate the idea he'll be some kind of mythologized grime extremist yknow????

probably coz everyone has already had their say on this issue. there's a short thread on it here and a long one on grimeforum.

the only thing i know for sure at this point is that its a huge mess and i certainly dont know enough to judge the man.... i prob wont get the vinyl but because i already have the cd.

music is music at the end of the day, once its made it can transcend the artist in some ways...

the issue about releasing/buying his music just comes down to peoples prefrences, whether they care more about not supporting him now that he has been convicted of attempted/plotting to murder, or more about the quality of his music.

yeah saw the thread on here a while ago, just bought it up cos someone mentioned his release in the crissy criss thread or some ting.
just weird seeing maniac in the metro when it came out, i wonder if the music does transcend this?

i just cant seperate the music from the guy who made it, maybe because his face is all over the front cover, he brought his image into his aesthetic and i cant help but link that too the metro conviction photo or whatever, wouldnt stop me dancing to it , but he/his music has been confined to somewhere that only phil spector lives!!! :o

Personally I am not playing any more maniac in my sets, I am a big fan of his music, but after someone does something like that, it is difficult to show any support for them, he does not deserve it.

It is well weird, I really like his tunes but I don't think I could ever listen to them again without being very much aware of what he did...

way i'm going to justify it to myself is that by buying the tune I'm supporting the positivity in his life.. .feels kinda like i'm sticking my head in the sand though
specially as he did it for his music career
