happy face was fail. I need a desk bludlings, ive managed to kop an akai mpk49 off ebay for £200, gonna get me a soundcard and monitors (probably rokits cos they go boom?) Now i've got minimal p's and i dont fancy spending £100 on a desk to hold my gear, seeing as i live in rented accomodation so the desk doesnt have to be anything fancy at all. The desk i currently own, i found abandonned down my road....it's proper swag and got bird shit on it (i live in brighton where the seagulls are HENCH, so i got some serious doo doo stains up on this bitch), managed to get most of it with some jiff cleaning wipes but if there was some way i could incoperate that desk to hold a 49key midi controller and 2 monitors that would be sick tings 'yo'. I'll upload a picture of my desk to show you what im working with, i just want some idea's as to how i can work around getting all my gear (preferably in front of me not round the side of me...i dont have a swivel chair, i stole a normal chair from a cafe in town after a night out....yea they still had their chairs outside so it was asking to be stolen!) For as cheap as possible, 'thug living' and the like.

There she is, proper rags, there's no way monitors and an mpk49 are gonna fit on that, anyone got any suggestions....i still wanna keep the desk cos i put so much effort in dragging it back home (the wheels fell off...no joke) and i spent about a fiver on cleaning products just to clean it!

seriaaas? What monitors do you suggest then squire? i could easily stretch my budget a little further, the seagulls are stnuc.....soo fucking loud in the morning, cant sleep past 6am some days!

Oh btw.....that axiom's for sale if anyone wants it, £100....i've had it for 3 weeks...still got the plastic sticker over the led screen, didnt realise there was a dirt cheap mpk on ebay before i bought it, i just wanna clean pie it off, SAFE

yeah i know the feeling. It's the same crap in my uncle's apartment at sea. fucking birds shitting all over the place, fucking annoying things. Next time i'll take an airsoft gun with me.

Yeah rokit is really bad. Those blackyellow things are overhyped. Yes they are low priced but they sound horrible compared to some serious monitors, trust me. I went for yamaha msp 5 and i'm very happy. They are superflat, sound good, not worlds biggest bass but it's ok. They are like 200 - 250 a piece, so about 400 - 500 a pair, which is very very very very cheap for such good and flat monitors. In the future you might want to add a sub if you are really need to hear 50 - 30 hz, but it's not really necessary imo.

edit and if you really want a sick sounding room you should build some basstraps and absorbing panels. You wouldn't believe how much difference it makes. Making the panels yourself, like i'm doing atm, is very a very cheap but very good sounding solution.

ahh yes, i've heard of the yamham msp 5, people say that the high's are overpowering and that the bass frequencies are rolled off too soon so there's poo bass response? Ive been looking at the mackies and they look alright and got good reviews, dunno brethren, im gonna go into the guitar store soon and audition some of these models and decide for myself anyways, it's the only way to go i geuss it's down to subjective preference n shittles.

it's not about subjective shit. Just watch the frequency response plot of the yamaha msp 5. It's one of the flattest out there and the monitors themselves are very sharp priced. And what is that highs overwhelming bull shit? Those people probably have no roomtreatment so they should stfu. They make my room sound like heaven.

haha cheers man, unfortunately cos my students loans were delayed by months i've been living like a right pikey, poncing ber food of anyone! Track's pretty much the second track ive ever made, it's not mixed down properly cos i dont know how yet but i'll get there innit, been out of the game for a few months since uni began but i wanna get back into now, hence me looking for a table. safe.
