To my knowledge brostep is a term for the kids that go crazy a strong bass with a catchy hook. first off, i love well thought out songs as such (is the sweetshop vip by trolley a brostep? i love that version so dearly). and not to be racist but usually young white kids on chemicals are the typical suspects. ive surfed all my life in cali and heard "bro" alot, but never thought of it as anymore than the English way of sayin our islanders bruddah. i watched the shift from bruddah to what we call bro's now...the kids comin from inland with rasied trucks that come down from the mainland and hit on our beach bunnies. i could care less about the bunnies we got enough to share, but when i hear labels in a group of music i love i wanna know what other people see. Personally i chose not to go see rusko in LA because i knew the crowd wasn't the sweaty basements i started out diggin in San fran and O'town.(i hear the peps across the pond talkin about the crowds in LA now, i get it...but what do u do when ur dj/producer plays at a mass hyped dubstep event...not go see him? luckliy rusko isnt on the top of my list...but i would have gone had it been in SF. and wish i lived in the bay area for more than the past two years, dubstep and hyphy + house really got me when i moved up there from the Hb...cant get that sound as easily as i used to down here...but thats another story.)
My conclusion is that now the big events are bringing more dubstep names,(cant wait for wonderland>first caspa experince guys) which will hopefully in turn encourage more of them coming out...and if i have to go see it elbow to elbow with bros and candy kids...i will step harder and shake my locks non stop more than any little kid fucked up. cause I really want them to know we love this shit in cali,( i feel bad for those people in middle America who cant even see thier fav dubstep artist.)
p.s.- In any circle of music their are the people dancing rhythmically creating the space in a crowd to move... the true lovers of that genre, dance...endlessly moving making sure their energy is transferred visually aswell as mentally for the dj to feed off and regurgitate into their soul. get some soul, learn how to dance.plz your dj
