At my wit's end - recording stereo out of computer

Hello all,
I'm trying to record samples from youtube clips and DVDs using Soundforge/sound recorder (though I've tried plenty of freeware applications to no avail).
I have a godawful behringer audio interface and I'm using ASIO, if anyone could help it may just save my sanity.
Also, does anyone have any idea how I'd mimic the quantisation of an MPC using Live?
Cheers.

audio hijack.
in live, use groove templates. in 8 there's a bunch of presets ripped straight from an mpc60 i believe.

Thanks for the help with the groove presets, I had them installed in the wrong place but found them all now. Audio Hijack is Mac only, sadly I'm stuck on a PC, using a godawful Behringer BCD2000 and ASIO as a soundcard. I've tried all of the free programs I could find but no luck, and it's really setting me back on a few things.
I hear some people do this in Soundforge? I have that but I think the soundcard set-up is stopping it working.
I'd be really thankful if someone could help with this, cheers.

I use a programme called Soundflower, tricks your computer into thinking there's another audio output, which you can then route into your DAW.
Edit: Was going to post a link there and realised Soundflower is Mac only. Sorry!

I used to do this simply by using the Stereo mix option combined with windows standard Sndrec32.
However, since upgrading to an audio interface and windows 7, I no longer have that option.

Really? Won't an ask.com plugin just be some rough adware?
I have the same problem. External soundcard only, the only selectable inputs in Soundforge or Live are the XLR inputs. Isn't there a audio hijack or soundflower alternative for PC?

If you google stereo mix in youtube it'll show you how to enable it for your version of windows, then you just set that as your input

Cheers for this, it worked. Still trying to record a normal stereo mix though...

Two solutions:
1. Go to the sound devices dialog, go to playback devices. Right click in the recording device window and enable 'show disabled devices' and 'show disconnected devices' You should see a device called 'Sound Mix' or similar. Enable this and set it as the default recording device.
2. If this doesn't work, the only software I have found that will do this is Total Recorder
http://www.totalrecorder.com/productfr_tr.htm, as it installs a virtual recording device/driver.
Hope that helps

Try installing some generic sound card drivers (ie realteks) then swap to your built in soundcard to record through stereo mix.
Its a bit of a trial and error

You certified genius - Total Recorder works like a charm. The trial has unlimited use, just added noise for a second every minute of recording - probably not much of an issue for peeps looking for samples.
