Hi guys.
I have been experimenting with making dubstep in Fl for some months, and I found a nice tune I really like.
I’m dying to know how I make “Mechanic” “saw” wobble bass like: Cookie Monsta - Me want cookie!
I'm Useing mostly Sytrus and Massive for the bass..

Just so you guys know, I’m new at this, so be gentle
Thanks in advance
Just so you know cookie monsta uses reason and he rinses the shite out of subtractor and malsrom
try develop your own style
i asked a similar question to this a while back and i got the shit ripped out of me

Darn..
So there isn’t any chance of making something similar?
Ivied seen it been used before by other artist, guess they use Reason.
I really like the mechanic sound, if you know what I mean, That’s what I’m looking for :/
Not necessarily exact same tune tho
cats be getting raw bass out of reason. sytrus is a badass synth though.

formant filters and resampling touch of flanger ring and comb filters there are a few ways to get a metallic sounding bass

You want true filth it's all about FM synthesis...
No bit crushers or formant filters here and check this bass out, straight FM
i dont know how to wobble like cookie but ... you can wobble like a llama in z3ta ...
first decide on a suitable llama ...
then if your using z3ta ... check this
.... otherwise the search at the top of the page will present you with many 'wobble' posts and llamas
as bannabomer found out the other week lols he has worked hard on his llama styles and progressed to 2nd dan
study this diagram to improve you llama wobble knowledge

duly noted. Ive been meaning to expand my understanding of FM. Sytrus happens to be an FM synth, so my man dabreyes has the right tools after all. i have it, and can program cool sounds, but i still dont fully understand what im doing with FM synthesis yet.

it took me a while of ONLY using FM to understand it.. the more i read about it, the more confused i got. but the more i just fiddled with the knobs, the more it made complete sense. the only way to explain it is that it's a way of manipulating the harmonics of your wave.. just like subtractive synthesis is a way of doing that.. you have an understanding of what a lowpass filter does to a square wave, yes? FM is not so different, just takes getting used to.

Yes but can anyone explain what he does with the pitch? Is he just automating pitch bend wheel or setting an lfo to osc pitch...is it same lfo as freq cutoff or a seperate one? is he using stacked synths and only pitch bending mid or top end of synth? Is this a portamento thing or combination of both?....
I'm not looking to copy his sound but I do want to learn this technique that I've heard being used be a lot of different artists, even outside the dub world.
A good example is in in this song song, its used
throughout:
