i usually produce with my KRK monitors, but if your talking DJing, i use the technics RPDJ-1200s... their okay... they've got kinda muddy midrange but they work for DJing.

their really uncomfortable if worn for more than a few hours tho. i really dont like that about em.

in short, i wouldnt reccomend em.

RPDH-1200

Yeah, not good to wear for too long but I allow it seeing as I got them for £50.

- I usually give these to the vocalist. Totally horrible sounding - Nasty pressure in there, but they sound exciting enough for vocalists and offer a good seal to prevent spill. When you are used to the headclamp of them, they do let you know when something is wrong, but they don't tell you WHAT is wrong.

Image

- Lovely, lovely things. I still can't entirely trust them for mixing, but I can wear them late into the night and they stay comfortable. If I HAD to use headphones for monitoring, it would be these until I find something better.

Image

- These are utterly shite sounding. As flat as a turd, but I wear them when I record vocals in the same room as the vocalist to isolate me from him. They're designed for drummers to wear, so they have a really good seal.

Image

These are the headphones I spend my entire music listening day in. I used to use them as monitors, before I got the AKGs. Again, I wouldn't trust them despite seeming quite neutral sounding, especially compared to Sony's other listening efforts. They're still a little pleasant, though. Somehow too pretty sounding.

I've got these in the cupboard, but I need to get some new foam for them. They fell apart, probably due to sweaty ears...

:o

I've got plenty of 'phones, but still don't trust any of them for mixing purposes.

HD25 - brilliant for dj'ing and you can get spare parts for them if they disintegrate, but they suck ass when it comes to mixing.

roland rh-200. got them for £70, 3 year warranty, been all over the place with them and they are built like bricks.

get's a bit uncomfortable after a few hrs of use though, but are an good size/shape for djing. no idea about using it for production tho.

i use a pair of akg k171 studio as well for djing as for production in the early
morning hours when i just can't put on my monitors ... :D

i would really recommend them as dj headphones as they feature closedback
supraaural earphones and a very powerful sound.
and with about €90 they're also not too expensive.
got mine for three years now and they still do such a good job!
the option to exchange the headphone cable is a good one too!

I use Beyer DT150s. Much better all-round response than HD-25s. They make me look like a BBC sound tech from the 70s mind. :?
