How do you go about getting a new national insurance card and provisional, and is it gonna cost top dollah? She's got a CRB check thursday too, that's blatantly gonna fall through and potentially cost her the new job & training. But yeah. Any help would be lovely. Thanks ninjas.

get on the phone to citizens advice, they should be able to give you a DWP number to ring. there's never been a single occasion where i've actually needed to actually show anyone my NINO card though (good job really, no idea where it is) and i've had CRB checks in the past for a couple of jobs, have they specifically asked for it or is it just the provisional they're after?

edit: you might also need to FLQ your PCX with a QAAANG

Never been asked for my National Insurance card. As long as she knows the number she'll be right.

Yup, this. CRB should be fine, too... does she have a passport or anything if she needs photo id?

Replacing a provisional is like tops £20, because she's not applying from scratch, you're replacing it. As for her NI card, once she gets in contact with social security they'll send her a piece of paper confirming her NI number, she won't get a replacement card. I shrug @ the CRB because I'm not sure what she can do about that... Good luck :]

CRB will be fine, they take ages to come through anyway if you've lived at a few addresses. I had to get a GCHQ check when I worked at a gallery unbelievably because it was situated in HMS Nelson dockyard, and the questions they ask are nuts - who was your parents head teacher etc. Really really go into insane detail.

In the mean time tell her the bank rang and she owes htem several thousand pounds after someone ordered a new kitchen or something in her name, just for hte lols.
