A dubplate, out-of-stock tune and funky mp3 download

How do you suppose the dubstep sound is going to spread if we can't get the tunes! I'm loving the DJ mix downloads on this site etc but there are is a lot of DJ talent out there all desperately trying to get their hands on these tunes.

Worse still, the lack of tunes in the shops or online because they are only on dubplate or out of stock means people end up ripping them off the p2p network. Which i am sure you'll agree is a bad thing..

I'm sure (re-) pressing tunes is expensive so can't you at least make them available for mp3 download. At least you guys will get some money rather than loosing out to the p2p network. I've seen a few DMZ, hyperdub and Planet Mu releases on bleep.com but this represents a fraction of the scene.

I know an mp3 isn't the same as a piece of vinyl but these days we can burn them to use on CD mixers or on something like Final Scratch.

this is a carbon copy of my first post too.

I kind of agree being a digital dj myself

but after hanging around here for a while, I realised part of the strength of the scene is it's exclusivity.

it sounds to me like the distribution is improving all the time, production numbers are increasing, more LP/CD releases are planned for this year, more labels signing up to bleep etc.

Most producers read this board, so if you catch them on a good day, they can help you out personally! how cool is that?

Dubplates take a while to come out thats just part and parcel...it would be worse if stuff was released straight away I think.

Compared with the insane time from plate to release in drum and bass dubstep is lke lightening.

Personally I think in this day and age of instant gratification theres something to be said for patience.

Patience????????

Not a word I'm familiar with

If I could go out and play a fraction of the tunes I hear online,
People would FREAK THE FUCK OUT

The states are ready but theres soooooo little available!!!!!!!!

yea, the thrall of the dubplate.
there is summin to be said for patience, and
though it's nice to hear these new jams every week,
by the time we get hold of em, the tunes have been heard
so many times... it's a lil frustrating, that's all...
like "check out my new mix of old tracks!".
the distribution here in the states is abysmal.

sometimes i just imagine i am playing those fresh songs...kinda superimposed over what i am actually playing. just kidding sort of...
